Masters Of The Universe Casts Third MCU Star As Another He-Man Ally

Masters of the Universe has cast its third Marvel Cinematic Universe star as another He-Man ally as three new cast members are revealed to have joined the movie. The upcoming Masters of the Universe movie will see Nicholas Galitzine take on the role of Prince Adam, or He-Man, as he teams up with Teela (Camila Mendes) and fights against evil forces led by Skeletor (Jared Leto). The movie will be directed by Travis Knight and written by Chris Butler, best known for their work on Laika stop-motion animated films.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that three new cast members have been added to Masters of the Universe, including MCU star Sasheer Zamata. Best known for her role as Jannifer Kale in Agatha All Along, Zamata will be portraying Suzie in the upcoming movie. This makes her the third star from the superhero series to be in the movie. Joining her will be Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man and Christian Vunipola as Hussein, with all three characters serving as important allies to He-Man.

What Sasheer Zamata’s Casting Means For Masters Of The Universe

The He-Man Movie Has Plenty Of Familiar Faces

Zamata’s MCU co-stars in the upcoming film are Idris Elba, who will be playing Man-At-Arms, and Morena Baccarin, who portrays The Sorceress of Castle Grayskull. The movie arrives decades after Dolph Lundgren’s Masters of the Universe in 1987, which was a critical and commercial failure. Aiming to be more memorable while staying faithful to the source material, the movie’s casting includes many big-name, recognizable stars in various roles. This news also comes as filming for the live-action rendition is underway in London.

This latest casting news shows just how many different characters from across the franchise are coming to the big screen, with deep cuts like Suzie proving the level of dedication to ensuring how memorable it is. This also helps the film stand out from other recent adaptations, such as Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: Revolution TV show, giving it an idenтιтy uniquely its own compared to everything else. These latest casting choices seal the deal on how it’s being presented, with plenty of important characters and lesser known ones getting the spotlight through talented choices.

With Zamata, Zhang, and Vunipola having important roles in the Masters of the Universe movie, the film is shaping up to be an exciting love letter to the franchise. Since some of the characters poised to show up include franchise faces that aren’t as well-known, the movie is liable to give them more depth, no doubt aided by the actors involved. With filming underway and more cast members added to its growing roster, the adaptation might be another memorable entry in the franchise.

A live-action She-Ra TV show is also in development.
