Every Paddington Movie Villain, Ranked

Following the release of Paddington in Peru, now is the perfect time to compare the villains of each movie in the Paddington franchise. The first Paddington movie was released in 2014 and introduced the lovable тιтular bear, who travels to London from Peru and eventually finds a home with the Brown family. Paddington and the members of the Brown family were further developed in Paddington 2, which was the highest-rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes for years. Finally, after many years, the third Paddington movie has finally been released in the United States and has also received outstanding reviews.

Paddington in Peru is much different from the previous two Paddington movies, as it moves away from London and follows Paddington and the Brown’s as they search for Aunt Lucy after she goes missing in Peru. Reviews for Paddington in Peru are not quite as strong as Paddington 2’s, but its high score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes (via Rotten Tomatoes) proves that the Paddington franchise consistently delivers amazing movies. The franchise also consistently delivers diabolical villains with elaborate plans. Therefore, here are all the villains in the Paddington franchise, ranked:

The Reverend Mother Pretends To Be The Brown’s Ally In Paddington In Peru

Played By Olivia Colman

In Paddington in Peru, the Reverend Mother writes Paddington to inform him that Aunt Lucy has been acting strangely lately. This prompts Paddington and the Brown’s to take a family trip to Peru. However, this is actually all part of the Reverend Mother’s plan to find the gold that is hidden in the lost city of El Dorado. Even though it is not revealed until the final act of Paddington in Peru, the Reverend Mother was actually only disguising herself as a nun at the Home for Retired Bears because she knew it would lead her to El Dorado.

At the end of Paddington in Peru, it is revealed that the Reverend Mother is actually Clarissa Cabot, the cousin of Hunter Cabot, the decoy villain of the movie. The Cabot’s have always been obsessed with gold, which is why Clarissa desperately wants to find El Dorado. While Olivia Coleman is fantastic in the role, Paddington in Peru’s major twist doesn’t work very well, since it is very obvious that the Reverend Mother has villainous intentions throughout the entire film.

Millicent Clyde Has A Grudge Against Bears In The First Paddington Movie

Played By Nicole Kidman

The beginning of the first Paddington movie offers a glimpse of Paddington’s life with Aunt Lucy and Uncle Pastuzo in Peru. In Peru, they were visited by an explorer, Montgomery Clyde, who learned that they are capable of human speech and spent a lot of time with them before heading back to London. Therefore, when Uncle Pastuzo pᴀsses away, it makes sense for Aunt Lucy to send Paddington to London to find the explorer. Instead, he ends up encountering Millicent, who has a grudge against him and other animals.

Millicent’s disdain for Paddington makes her a ruthless villain in the Paddington franchise.

Millicent is the daughter of Montgomery, who is now ᴅᴇᴀᴅ, and resents him because he refused to bring a Peruvian bear specimen back to London. Therefore, when she encounters Paddington, she wants to kill him and stuff him so that he can be put on display at the National History Museum. Millicent’s disdain for Paddington makes her a ruthless villain in the Paddington franchise, as she would have stopped at nothing to see his demise. It eventually takes the efforts of the entire Brown family to take Millicent down.

Phoenix Buchanan Is An Egotistical & Greedy Actor In Paddington 2

Played By Hugh Grant

In Paddington 2, Paddington hopes to purchase a pop-up book of London for Aunt Lucy for her 100th birthday. However, one night, he discovers a thief has stolen it. After trying to catch the thief, Paddington is eventually stopped by the police and arrested. Paddington is sentenced to 10 years in prison, while the actual thief, who is revealed to be Phoenix Buchanan, one of the Brown’s neighbors, gets away scot-free. It is then revealed that the book contains clues to a hidden treasure, which Phoenix is determined to find.

In Paddington 2, Phoenix uses his background as an actor to disguise himself as he searches for clues in London. Therefore, Phoenix is by far the flashiest villain in the Paddington franchise. In Paddington 2, Hugh Grant expertly portrays the diabolical actor, and constantly proves that he is a force to be reckoned with. When Paddington and the Brown’s finally stop Phoenix, it is a relief to see him put behind bars. Phoenix surprisingly returns in a cameo in Paddington in Peru, which proves that he is undoubtedly the most entertaining villain in the Paddington franchise.
