Wuthering Heights First Image Sensually Teases Saltburn Director Emerald Fennell’s Next Movie

The first image from Wuthering Heights has been unveiled. The upcoming 2026 movie is an adaptation of the 1847 Emily Brontë novel of the same name, adapted and directed by Saltburn and Promising Young Woman filmmaker Emerald Fennell. Fennell will be reuniting with Saltburn star Jacob Elordi, who is set to play the iconic character Heathcliff opposite Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw. Robbie is also producing the movie via her company LuckyChap Entertainment. The cast of the Wuthering Heights adaptation also includes Shazad Latif, Hong Chau, and Alison Oliver.

Warner Bros. has now released the first official image from Wuthering Heights adaptation. The sensual still frame is an extreme closeup of fingers tangled up with grᴀss, one of which is inside an open mouth. It is unclear if the fingers belong to the person whose mouth is shown or another character, though the angle of the hand seems to imply that they are one and the same. Check it out below:

What This Means For Wuthering Heights

The Movie Will Embrace Modern Sensuality

With this image, it already seems as though Wuthering Heights will take on the tone of Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn rather than a more traditional, staid adaptation of the material. Her 2023 black comedy thriller, which followed a young man (Barry Keoghan) seducing, manipulating, and murdering his way through the rich family of his college friend (Elordi), was full of sensual moments like the one captured in this still frame, which promises a more modern take on the period-set drama.

Wuthering Heights has previously been adapted to the screen multiple times, perhaps most famously in a 1939 outing starring Laurence Olivier as Heathcliff.

The sensuality of this first-look image is consistent with the marketing material that has already been released for the Margot Robbie movie. Although there has not yet been a trailer, official poster, or further first-look images, Emerald Fennell previously shared a stylized тιтle card for the movie on social media. The тιтle was framed by illustrated skeletons, one of which seemed to be in a Sєxually compromising position.

Our Take On The New Wuthering Heights Image

It’s An Update, But It Fits The Novel

While it is unknown how Sєxually explicit the upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation will be, it seems that Emerald Fennell has harnessed the directorial skills that she sharpeend with Saltburn to imbue the upcoming movie with a tone that embraces human desire and emotion in a stylized and hyperbolic way. This should be perfect for bringing the iconic gothic romance novel to life, as the tragedy has long been renowned for its heightened emotions and stylized presentation.
