The Fantastic Four: First Steps Redeems The MCU’s Kang Build Up By Using It To Set Up A Major Mister Fantastic Twist In Marvel Movie Theory

I think The Fantastic Four: First Steps is the perfect place for Marvel Studios to resolve one unfinished Kang the Conqueror storyline in the MCU that began in Phase 5’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The Fantastic Four and Kang the Conqueror are intimately connected in Marvel Comics, making me think that some of the MCU’s unresolved Kang plot threads could be addressed in Marvel’s upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps movie. First Steps’ teaser trailer has confirmed Galactus will be the reboot’s big bad, but I’d still love to see Kang’s story wrapped up.

Jonathan Majors’ arrest and conviction in 2023 spurred Marvel Studios to remove Kang the Conqueror and his variants from the MCU, replacing them with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in the now-тιтled Avengers: Doomsday. While Loki season 2 made an effort to provide a natural ending for Kang’s storyline in the Multiverse Saga, there are still several unanswered questions that I’m desperate to see resolved. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is the perfect place to address these issues, and I think this could spell the debut of a brand-new superhero collective.

Phase 5’s Council Of Kangs Post-Credits Scene Still Hasn’t Been Resolved

The Council Of Kangs Debuted In Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania

Rama-Tut, Immortus, and the Scarlet Centurion as the Council of Kangs in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania marked Jonathan Majors’ second appearance in the MCU, but also his debut as Kang the Conqueror. Majors previously played Kang variant He Who Remains in Loki season 1, but the Conqueror proved himself to be an even more formidable threat, though he still wasn’t strong enough to defeat Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne. Quantumania’s mid-credits scene, however, teed up exciting new stories for the Multiverse Saga by introducing the Council of Kangs, but we haven’t seen this tease followed-up since.

The Council of Kangs comprised countless variants of the multiversal villain, including the likes of Immortus, Rama-Tut and the Centurion. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s mid-credits scene revealed that the Council of Kangs had banished the Conqueror to the Quantum Realm, and had their own plans for the multiverse, which I presume would have come to a head in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Now, we’re not sure what Marvel Studios will do with the Council of Kangs, but I think The Fantastic Four: First Steps could play off this scene perfectly.

The Council Of Reeds Could Redeem The Post-Credits Scene In The Fantastic Four: First Steps

There Have Now Been 5 Live-Action Adaptations Of Reed Richards’ Mister Fantastic

Marvel Studios could copy Quantumania’s mid-credits scene for one of The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ post-credits stingers, but instead of catching up with the Council of Kangs, the Council of Reeds could take their place. Marvel Comics first introduced the Interdimensional Council of Reeds as a cameo in 2009’s Dark Reign: Fantastic Four #5, and the group made its first full appearance in Fantastic Four #570. Reed Richards meets the Council of Reeds, comprising hundreds of Mister Fantastic variants, after creating a multiversal Bridge in the hopes of finding the solution to “everything” in his world.

I would love to see the Council of Reeds make its MCU debut in one of The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ post-credits scenes. This would create the perfect opportunity for the mid-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to be resolved, as the Council of Reeds could be revealed to have dealt with the Council of Kangs. In Marvel Comics, Kang is a descendant of the time-traveling Nathaniel Richards, Reed Richards’ father, so connecting the Kangs and Reeds in the MCU makes complete sense. This could also lead perfectly into Avengers: Doomsday by bringing back past Mister Fantastic variants.

The Council Of Reeds’ Debut Can Perfectly Set Up The Battle Against RDJ’s Doctor Doom

Robert Downey Jr. Was Confirmed To Be Doctor Doom In July 2024

Every previous live-action version of Reed Richards, except John Krasinski’s, has battled a different iteration of Doctor Doom, which means these Mister Fantastics could prove crucial to the battle against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. The Fantastic Four: First Steps could feature cameo appearances from the likes of Alex Hyde-White, Ioan Gruffudd, Miles Teller and Krasinski. These past variants and more could form the Council of Reeds, which could play a key role in the MCU’s Phase 6.

The Council of Reeds’ purpose is to solve everything in their respective universes, and they did this by creating a Bridge to access other realities and work together to make the multiverse better. The Council of Kangs posed a huge threat to the entire multiverse, so it makes sense to me that the Council of Reeds would have wanted to eliminate this villainous group. I can see this repeating for Doctor Doom, so I think the Council of Reeds would make an excellent addition to The Fantastic Four: First Steps, alongside Pedro Pascal’s new Mister Fantastic.
