Sandra Bullock’s $212M Action Comedy Ascends Netflix’s Top 10 US Chart 25 Years Later

Sandra Bullock‘s action comedy that made $212 million at the box office has ascended Netflix’s Top 10 chart in the United States 25 years after its release. The actress – whose diverse filmography spans action, comedy, and drama – was one of Hollywood’s biggest and highest-paid stars from the 1990s to the 2010s. Her big breakthrough came in the 1994 action thriller Speed alongside Keanu Reeves. This led to lead roles in the romantic comedy While You Were Sleeping and the dramas A Time to Kill and Hope Floats.

In the following years, Bullock cemented her status as a reliable comedic presence with the romantic comedies Two Weeks Notice and The Proposal. However, it wasn’t until her performance in 2004’s Crash – which won three Academy Awards, including Best Picture – that Bullock became a more respected dramatic actress. From there, she starred in The Blind Side and won an Academy Award for Best Actress. She received a second nomination for Gravity which, at over $723 million, is also her highest-grossing movie.

Miss Congeniality Lands On Netflix’s Top 10 US Chart

It Ranks 6th For This Week

Miss Congeniality has made Netflix’s Top 10 chart in the United States. Directed by Donald Petrie (Mystic Pizza), with a script co-written by Marc Lawrence (known for his numerous collaborations with Bullock), the 2000 action comedy stars Sandra Bullock as a tomboy FBI agent who goes undercover as a contestant to thwart a terrorist threat at the Miss United States beauty pageant. The cast also includes Michael Caine, Benjamin Bratt, Candice Bergen, William Shatner, and Ernie Hudson in supporting roles.

Now, 25 years after its release, Bullock’s action comedy has become a hit on Netflix. Miss Congeniality ranks sixth on Netflix’s Top 10 movies in the United States for this week. It ranks below Kinda Pregnant, The Menu, Back in Action, Renegades, Fallen, and above The Boss Baby, Minions, The Secret Life of Pets, and Bogotá: City of the Lost.

Our Take On Miss Congeniality’s Netflix Success

Sandra Bullock’s Comedic Charm Is Truly Timeless

Sandra Bullock shows off her unparalleled comedic presence and charm in the action comedy, so it’s no wonder why Miss Congeniality is trending on Netflix. However, even she still struggles to completely save the movie weighed down by a weak script, which makes it feel like a generic and inspired sitcom, resulting in mixed reviews from critics. Still, the movie was a big box office hit, grossing over $212 million, and it remains a hit today on Netflix, proving that Sandra Bullock‘s comedic charm in Miss Congeniality is truly timeless.
