Is Paddington In Peru Suitable For Children? Parent’s Guide

One of the most anticipated releases of 2025 is the upcoming sequel Paddington in Peru, the third entry in the beloved Paddington film series. The newest addition to the franchise is bringing the series to a whole new location, which is Peru, the place that Paddington originally came from before he moved to London. The previous two films are great adventures for the whole family, and as the cast of Paddington in Peru has finally returned for a third installment, the question arises of whether this film will keep that same tone.

While Paddington in Peru‘s reviews have been about as strong as the first two films, it’s worth noting that it has only been released in the United Kingdom, with a larger, worldwide roll out to come soon, including February 14 for the US — just in time for Valentine’s Day. The new film sees Paddington returning to Peru with the Browns so that he can find his Aunt Lucy, who has gone missing in the jungle. Paddington in Peru‘s story seems to be going to similar places as the previous entries, meaning that its suitability for children is likely to be the same as well.

Paddington In Peru Is Rated PG For Action, Humor & Themes

The Film Has Earned The “Parental Guidance” Tag

In the United Kingdom, Paddington in Peru was also given a PG rating, for “mild threat.”

Paddington in Peru‘s rating also includes “some thematic elements,” which implies that some of the film’s messages will potentially veer towards the darker, more upsetting side of the spectrum. However, given the film’s overall rating of PG, it is unlikely that Paddington in Peru will include anything too disturbing, and that the thematic elements will be pretty light, as opposed to the much heavier subject matter that PG-13 or R-rated movies tend to delve into.

How Paddington In Peru’s Rating & Contents Compare To The Previous Movies

The Franchise Has Continued Its PG Ratings

The first Paddington movie, released in 2014, was also rated PG by the MPA, for “mild action and rude humor,” and Paddington 2 was given the same rating, albeit for the slightly different reasoning of “some action and rude humor.” Comparatively, Paddington in Peru seems to have more action and less rude humor than the first two installments, showing exactly which elements of the film are more prominent, making it easy for parents to compare those aspects of the first two movies to what may appear in the newest entry.

The one new addition to the rating is the thematic elements, which hadn’t shown up in the Paddington franchise before Paddington in Peru. The previous two movies have had some dark moments, such as in the first movie, when Paddington’s family home is destroyed, and his uncle is seemingly killed by an earthquake, so it appears that this movie is going to be going further than that. Paddington in Peru seems to deal a lot in fear, which may be part of those thematic elements.

Paddington In Peru Is Pretty Suitable For Children

Based on the MPA rating, Paddington in Peru is undoubtedly going to be another great film for children of most ages, following in the footsteps of the previous two movies in the series. The PG rating was given to the previous two movies by the same organization, which is a very clear sign that they will be as suitable as they were for younger audiences. The “thematic elements” are probably going to be the most significant part of the rating, as it could potentially be upsetting for some audiences, depending on what they react to.

If a child enjoyed the previous movies, then it’s safe to ᴀssume that they will also have a good time with this one.

The easiest way to look at this film is in comparison to the previous two, as they will likely be the best way of determining how this movie will affect different audiences. If a child enjoyed the previous movies, then it’s safe to ᴀssume that they will also have a good time with this one, as well as the eventual Paddington 4. Obviously, all children are different, so the things that are suitable for some might not be suitable for others, but generally speaking, Paddington in Peru is going to be a pretty safe bet.
