Superman Movie Promos Reveal New Looks At Nathan Fillion’s Green Lantern And Krypto The Superdog

James Gunn’s Superman movie gets new promos showcasing more of the upcoming DC Universe film. After having been gone from the big screen for several years, Krypton’s last son is finally making his way back to theaters this summer with Gunn’s Superman film, starring David Corenswet, set to launch the larger DCU. Following the first trailer released in December 2024, fans have been eagerly waiting to see more from Gunn’s Superman movie as it gets closer to its release date.

While Superman won’t have a presence at this year’s Super Bowl, the DCU film got a moment to shine at the Puppy Bowl, with Gunn and his dog Ozu attending. As part of promoting Superman, a new Krypto promo was released to celebrate the Puppy Bowl. Check it out below:

Superman is the first live-action movie that will showcase Krypto, since he has only been featured through animation, with a handful of live-action appearances like the тιтans TV show. Gunn’s dog, Ozu, was the real-life inspiration for Krypto, and the character quickly became a fan-favorite back in December 2024 when he showed up in the first Superman trailer. The Superman movie will also mark Guy Gardner Green Lantern’s cinematic debut, as he has mainly been used in animated DC properties.

What The Superman Promos Reveal

Since Krypto will be getting his first cinematic treatment in live-action after all these years, the beloved Super-Dog will obviously be a huge player for DC Studios to include in the Superman marketing. With superhero movies always being aimed to draw in a younger demographic, Krypto is a perfect character to lean into, including for events like the Puppy Bowl. Since Krypto is bound to be one of the standout characters, it will be exciting to see how the DCU timeline takes him further after Superman, especially when he wins the crowd over anytime he gets the spotlight, including promos like this recent one.

In the case of Fillion as Green Lantern, Guy Gardner has always been one of the more joked-about characters in the entire DC canon, and it’s clear that the DCU film will not be holding back with its punches. When it comes to his hair, Guy’s bowl cut is meant to be ridiculed, and the fact that DC Studios is leaning into it just shows that he will likely be a comic-relief character in the Superman movie cast. Even though it is clearly a wig, it doesn’t change the fact that there will be many ways to make fun of the Green Lantern’s hairstyle.

Our Take On The Superman Promos

James Gunn's New Version of the Superman Movie Logo

As sweet and funny (in Guy’s case) as the promos were, it’s still surprising that the Puppy Bowl didn’t have at least some new Superman footage pertaining to Krypto. While it is understandable that Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios wouldn’t want to invest advertising money for a Super Bowl spot, having something related to Krypto during the Puppy Bowl would have seemed fitting. Hopefully, it won’t be too long until the world gets another Superman trailer as the DCU installment gets closer to its release date.
