The Brutalist will likely be a major streaming draw, as the three-and-a-half hour long American immigrant drama has earned an enormous amount of buzz during a theatrical run that has so far earned the $9 million project a worldwide gross of $19 million. The movie, which is the latest from director Brady Corbet, was recently nominated for seven Golden Globes, winning three, for Best Director, Best Motion Picture – Drama, and Best Actor for star Adrien Brody. Brody leads a star-studded cast that also includes Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, and Alessandro Nivola.
In spite of drawing controversy for the use of AI in adjusting the lead characters’ Hungarian accents and in creating some architectural illustrations, the movie has become a major critical success. This includes glowing The Brutalist reviews earning it a Certified Fresh score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. It has also been nominated for 10 Oscars at the 97th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (for Adrien Brody), Best Supporting Actor (for Guy Pearce), and Best Supporting Actress (for Felicity Jones).
The Brutalist Is Not Currently Available On Streaming
Its Theatrical Run Is Ongoing
At the time of writing, the Brutalist release is still limited exclusively to theaters. It will likely continue to run in theaters until after the Academy Awards are presented on March 2, allowing some time for viewers both globally and nationwide to catch up with the Adrien Brody movie. However, it will eventually be available at home, and the streaming service on which it will land is already known.
The Brutalist Will Stream On Max At A Later Date
Its Streaming Home Is Secure
When The Brutalist does arrive on streaming, it will be available on the Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service Max, which was formerly known as HBO Max. This is known to be the case because the 2025 Best Picture frontrunner was distributed by A24, a company that has an exclusive streaming deal with Max as of December 2023.
A24 is the independent production company and distributor behind the Best Picture winners Everything Everywhere All At Once and Moonlight.
At the time of writing, the official streaming release date for the Brady Corbet movie is unknown. However, precedent shows that the average time between an A24 movie debuting in theaters and premiering on Max is roughly 126 days. This means that The Brutalist will most likely debut on the platform some time around April 25, given the fact that it premiered in theaters on December 20, 2024.
The Brutalist Is Expected To Be Released On Digital Soon
It Should Hit VOD Before The Oscars
While the subscription streaming debut of The Brutalist is some time away, it will become available for rental and purchase on video on demand much sooner. While the When to Stream report that it will debut on VOD on February 18 is unconfirmed, it will likely premiere some time around this date, given the fact that the average A24 movie’s theatrical window is roughly 48 days. If it does premiere on video on demand on this date, this will leave at-home viewers with 12 days in which to watch it before the Academy Awards broadcast on March 2.
