Record-Setting Cat Adventure Movie With 97% RT Score Getting Streaming Home In Time For Its Oscar Nominations

Flow‘s streaming release date has been revealed. The Latvian animated movie, which was directed and co-written by Gints Zilbalodis, follows a cat teaming up with other animal species to survive after a devastating flood, has been well received across the board. Glowing Flow reviews have earned the movie a Certified Fresh 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and it became the first Latvian movie to ever be nominated in a major ceremony when it received two Oscar nods, for Best International Feature and Best Animated Feature.

The Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service Max has now announced that Flow will be joining their library on February 14. Max will be the exclusive streaming home for the movie in the United States. It will also premiere on HBO linear on February 15 at 6:30 p.m. ET.

What This Means For Flow

Its Streaming Release Has Come At A Good Time

The Oscar-nominated movie’s streaming release debuting on Valentine’s Day could make it perfect either as a complement to or counterprogramming for the major theatrical releases coming to the United States that weekend. The upcoming Captain America: Brave New World is set to premiere in theaters the same day as Flow, opposite the domestic debut of Paddington in Peru. While the latter is also a movie with an animal protagonist, just like Flow, the animated adventure story could potentially provide a perfect double feature with the more wholesome family movie.

Paddington in Peru is the third installment in the live-action Paddington franchise, which adapts the children’s book series by Michael Bond about an anthropomorphic bear.

This streaming debut also gives audiences ample time during which they can catch up with Flow at home ahead of the 2025 Oscars. Additionally, if it wins against its compeтιтion in either category (which would be Emilia Pérez, The Girl with the Needle, I’m Still Here, and The Seed of the Sacred Fig for International Feature and Inside Out 2, The Wild Robot, Memoir of a Snail, and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl for Animated Feature), it is perfectly placed to receive a boost in viewership after the ceremony takes place on March 2.

Our Take On The Flow Streaming Release Date

It Could Become A Hit For Max

Ultimately, it remains to be seen how Flow performs on streaming. However, it seems highly likely to succeed considering the precedent set by its critical and commercial success, which includes earning $14.5 million at the worldwide box office so far against its budget of roughly $3.6 million. The movie has also won over audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, who have given it a Verified H๏τ score of 98%, which is actually 1% higher than the critics’ score on the Tomatometer.
