•Located in Palmyra in the province of Homs, Syria.
•The castle is thought to have been built in the 13th century.
•It’s lying on raised bedrock which is a well-defended position for a fortification with thick and high walls, it was also surrounded by a moat and had only one access available through a drawbridge.
•The castle became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980 as part of the site of Palmyra.
•It’s also known as Fakhr-al-Din al-Ma’ani Castle or Tadmur Castle.
