Mad Men & Ghostbusters: Afterlife Stars To Lead Survival Thriller About Being Kidnapped By A Sadist

Mad Men‘s Kiernan Shipka and Ghostbusters: Afterlife‘s McKenna Grace will lead a new survival thriller, The Nowhere Game, about two women being kidnapped by a sadist. Shipka broke through at the age of six as Sally Draper in the acclaimed AMC series Mad Men and, since then, has been thriving within the horror genre. On the other hand, Grace has starred in Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Frozen Empire, but has also appeared in several horror projects and even has an Emmy nomination for her guest role in The Handmaid’s Tale.

Now, the two actresses are teaming up for a new project. Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Kiernan Shipka and Mckenna Grace have signed on to star in The Nowhere Game, a survival thriller about two women who are kidnapped by a sadist and forced into a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly game. David Charbonier and Justin Douglas Powell (The Djinn) will direct with a script written by Alex Pototsky which made the Black List, a list of the most popular unproduced screenplays, in 2023.

What Kiernan Shipka & Mckenna Grace Starring In The Nowhere Game Means For The Movie

What Is It About & Who’s Behind It?

The Nowhere Game follows Allie (Kiernan Shipka) and Carin (McKenna Grace) whose road trip takes a terrifying turn when they are kidnapped and forced into a brutal game of survival broadcast to an online audience. The two young women are set free in the forest with minimal supplies and hunted by the cold-blooded sadist who kidnapped them. As they venture deeper into the wilderness, they uncover clues left behind by previous “contestants,” realizing the grim fate that is likely ahead of them, and what they must do to survive.

The Nowhere Game will be the fourth horror film directed by Charbonier and Powell after The Boy Behind the Door, The Djinn, and Push – all of which have been or will be released on Shudder. The upcoming survival thriller is produced by Picturestart, who recently teamed up with Shipka for the romantic comedy, Sweethearts, which was released on Max. Picturestart is also behind the body horror film Together, starring Dave Franco and Alison Brie, which premiered at Sundance and sold to Neon for $17 million.

Our Take On Kiernan Shipka & Mckenna Grace Starring In The Nowhere Game

Why They’re Great Casting Choices

Sabrina Spellman in a red cloak, Riverdale Season 6.

Kiernan Shipka and Mckenna Grace are great casting choices for the survival thriller because of their extensive experience in the horror genre. Shipka has starred in horror projects such as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Carriers, The Blackcoat’s Daughter, The Silence, Totally Killer, and Longlegs. Grace has also appeared in several horror projects, including The Bad Seed, The Haunting of Hill House, Annabelle Comes Home, Malignant, and the upcoming Scream 7.

In fact, Shipka and Grace have already appeared together in a horror project, and even played the same character. Grace made a guest appearance on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s holiday special, “A Midwinter’s Tale,” playing a younger version of Shipka’s тιтular character. The two actresses clearly look alike, which begs the question of whether they might be playing sisters in The Nowhere Game.
