“It’s Timeless”: Adrien Brody Names One Of His Favorite Wes Anderson Movies Of All Time

Adrien Brody names one of his favorite Wes Anderson movies of all time. Brody is perhaps best known for his powerful performance as the Holocaust survivor Władysław Szpilman in The Pianist, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor at the age of 29, the youngest recipient ever in that category. Over 20 years later, Brody received his second Oscar nomination for his performance in The Brutalist as another Holocaust survivor, László Tóth, a fictional Hungarian architect who immigrates to the United States and struggles to achieve the American Dream.

Other than his Oscar-nominated roles, Brody has frequently collaborated with Anderson, appearing in five of his films. The actor first starred in The Darjeeling Limited as one of three estranged brothers on a transformative journey across India aboard a luxury train. In the animated Fantastic Mr. Fox, Brody had a brief role voicing a mouse. In The Grand Budapest H๏τel, Brody played the son of a wealthy dowager, appearing amidst a mᴀssive ensemble cast. Brody also had brief roles as an art dealer in The French Dispatch and a TV director in Asteroid City, both also featuring expansive ensemble casts.

The Actor Calls It “Timeless”

Adrien Brody names The Grand Budapest H๏τel as one of his favorite Wes Anderson movies. Written and directed by Anderson, his 2014 film follows a famed concierge of a 20th-century mountainside resort who is framed for the murder of a wealthy dowager and teams up with his newfound protégé to find a priceless Renaissance painting, all amidst the backdrop of an encroaching fascist regime. The movie stars Adrien Brody, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Tony Revolori, Willem Dafoe, Saoirse Ronan, and many more.

Appearing on Variety‘s series in which actors guess lines from their most memorable movies and TV shows, Adrien Brody named The Grand Budapest H๏τel as one of his favorite Wes Anderson films of all time. I love that film so much. It’s really kind of a timeless movie. Full of wonderful moments and people and the experience of making it was really special. It’s probably one of my favorite films of Wes’ all time.

The Grand Budapest H๏τel is widely regarded as one of Wes Anderson’s best movies. It was nominated for a total of 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won four for costume design, makeup and hairstyling, and production design – recognizing how well the film uses ornate visuals to explore its deeply emotional ideas. The movie is also very special for Adrien Brody since his mother was born in Budapest, and years later, he had the chance to play the Hungarian-born László Tóth in The Brutalist, which was partially filmed in the country’s capital city.
