Firefly is one of the most beloved sci-fi series of all time with its cast being key to its cultural phenomena. Leading the fleet is Nathan Fillion, who plays Captain Malcolm ‘Mal’ Reynolds in the television series. Unfortunately, Firefly was controversially canceled after just a single season on air. It remains a much-loved series and is ranked as one of the highest-rated television shows on IMDb at no. 34. This show was career-defining for Fillion, who later reprised his role in Serenity, the follow-up movie. Fillion also played the lead role in the series Castle, which ran from 2009 to 2016.
Now, Fillion’s best-known current work is in the TV series The Rookie, debuting as John Nolan in 2018. The ABC series follows Nolan as he goes through a midlife crisis and decides to pivot his career by joining the LAPD. The Rookie is currently in season 7, airing episodes weekly on Tuesdays. While The Rookie airs on ABC and Hulu, another Fillion project is hitting the streaming charts.
