“That Was Actually A Suggestion Of Mine”: Why Sonic 3’s Stone Connects Quickly With That Character Explained By Star

Lee Majdoub, who plays Agent Stone in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, discussed his character’s interactions with Tails in the movie. The film’s story follows Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles as they take on Shadow. However, once Shadow proves to be too formidable for them, they temporarily team up with Ivo Robotnik and Agent Stone. Reviews for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 have praised its exciting story, and the film currently has a score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated entry in the series.

Speaking with Screen Rant‘s own Grant Hermanns, Majdoub explained that he was thrilled to be able to interact with more of the animated characters in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Since he only got a chance to interact with Knuckles in the previous movies, Majdoub was specifically excited for his character to work with Tails. Majdoub revealed that he actually pitched the idea of Agent Stone calling Tails adorable, which is a standout moment in Sonic 3. Read Majdoub’s full comment below:

I was stoked, No. 1, to realize I was getting to interact with all of the animated characters, because Stone only interacted with Knuckles out of the two movies prior. But tails, out of everybody, I love Tails. I think Tails is the cutest thing, so that was actually a suggestion of mine to Jeff, was to open up that scene with a very direct, very serious delivery of telling Tails how adorable he is. And Jeff was like, “Oh my gosh, it’s such a great idea.” I was like, “Everybody knows Tails is adorable. Stone probably thinks Tails is adorable.”

I don’t think Stone necessarily ᴀssociates Tails so much with being such a rival to Robotnik. I think he’s had experience with Knuckles, he’s had experience with Sonic, but Tails is kind of just there, which sometimes, I think Stone feels like, “Sometimes, I just feel like I’m just there, and nobody really knows what I’m capable of.” And I think that’s why they strike that, or at least Stone strikes a rapport with Tails. I don’t know if Tails strikes a rapport with Stone. But, yeah, for me personally, I loved it, and it was fun to be able to suggest that idea and get a thumbs up with it about Tails being adorable.

What Lee Majdoub’s Comments About Agent Stone & Tails’ Interaction Means For Sonic 3

Agent Stone Relates To Tails In Sonic The Hedgehog 3

In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Agent Stone seems excited about working with Team Sonic. While they are exploring the abandoned GUN base about halfway through the film, the team decides to split up, which leads to Agent Stone and Tails going off together on their own. This is when Agent Stone has the chance to tell Tails that he’s adorable. It’s a sweet moment between two characters who have been on opposite sides in previous Sonic movies. However, their time together is cut short when Shadow sneaks up on them.

Since Tails is not one of Ivo’s main rivals, Majdoub reveals that Stone views him as a character that is also sidelined at times.

It is very interesting to hear Majdoub compare his own character to Tails. It has always been clear that Stone is neglected by Ivo Robotnik and often feels like he is sidelined. Since Tails is not one of Ivo’s main rivals, Majdoub reveals that Stone views him as a character that is also sidelined at times. Therefore, Agent Stone feels like he can relate to Tails in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. This opens the door for their dynamic to potentially be further explored in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

Our Take On Lee Majdoub’s Comments About Agent Stone & Tails’ Interaction In Sonic 3

Tails in Sonic The Hedgehog 3

The scene between Agent Stone and Tails in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 may have been brief, but it is cool to learn that Majdoub put a lot of thought into it. There are plenty of unique pairings in the Sonic movies, and Agent Stone and Tails was undoubtedly one of the most surprising in Sonic 3. Majdoub and Tails voice actor Colleen O’Shaughnessey played off each other really well in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, so it would be great if they get more scenes together in future movies in the franchise.
