I’m So Fascinated By One Of The Weirdest Parts Of Both Of The New DCU Superman Movie’s Trailers

Superman has me the most excited that I have been about a movie in years, and a certain detail from both the DC Universe film’s trailer and TV spot has me fascinated by what James Gunn intends to do with this character and world. Following in the footsteps of several live-action Superman portrayals, David Corenswet has much to live up to in the film, although all signs point to the creation of an iconic new take on the character. While there is much familiar to be seen in these trailers, there is even more new stuff to obsess over.

The world around Superman will be prominently featured in the new film, and this has some people worried. However, James Gunn has revealed many set details that have made it clear that Superman, Lois, and Lex Luthor will be the focal points of the film. The rest of the characters, settings, and choices, will all contribute to the world that surrounds the iconic hero in so many exciting ways. Alongside sH๏τs of Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl, I have found myself captivated by one particular image from the latest trailer for the film.

Superman Cradling A Seemingly ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Robot Raises So Many Questions In Less Than 2 Seconds

The New DC Universe Has Already Teased So Many Interesting Details

During the new Superman trailer, Clark can be seen holding a ᴅᴇᴀᴅ robot in his arms. This image is so unique, as it shows a heartbroken Man of Steel having an emotional moment in his Fortress of Solitude, where he experiences heartbreak over the destruction of a metallic being. This raises so many questions, and only a few of them currently have answers. What will happen at the Fortress of Solitude is certainly a question for the film to answer. However, there is some comic book suggestion of whom this robot is.

In the comic books, Kelex is a Kryptonian robot who used to serve Jor-El. In many iterations of Superman stories, Kelex stays in the Fortress of Solitude, and works to serve Superman himself. He is typically presented as the caretaker of the Fortress, and has featured in a number of prominent stories. It is unclear if the robot in the pictures is Kelex, as it certainly looks different, although it seems likely that at the very least the inspiration of Kelex is being used in this story.

Superman’s Trailer Teases A Range Of Bizarre Scenes That I Am Fascinated About Fitting Together

The Story Behind The New Superman Film Seems Unique And Incredible

The is so much pressure on James Gunn’s Superman to provide a version of the hero that has never been seen before, but it appears that the filmmaker is living up to the task. In only the first trailer, an entire DC Universe full of ridiculous looking Green Lanterns and other heroes was established, alongside incredible threats. Superman has already been seen fighting a Kaiju, and it is clear that his Fortress of Solitude will have a unique Kryptonian presence that seems entirely different from anything that has yet been seen in DC’s filmography.

Rather than focusing on Superman’s lonely status as an incredible power, such as the DCEU did, this new universe may instead see Superman have many contemporaries in this bright and colorful world.

Adding to this are the details of Krypto the Superdog, and I am excited to see how all of it fits together. This world is so unusual, and this new Superman could fit into it especially well. Rather than focusing on Superman’s lonely status as an incredible power, such as the DCEU did, this new universe may instead see Superman have many contemporaries in this bright and colorful world. I can’t wait to see what all of this means for the story of the film, which I hope to be exceptional.

Superman’s Robot Scene Has Helped Convince Me The DC Universe Will Truly Take After The Comics

The DCU Is Poised To Be Something Truly Unique

It seems that James Gunn has looked at his new DC Universe as a vast and lived-in place, populated with exciting and colorful friends and foes alike. Using his unique style and humor, the filmmaker has previously crafted comic-accurate, outlandish worlds in Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad. It seems that this pattern is far from over, and that a rich and interesting world that pulls the strangest comic book stories will make up the framework of the new DCU.

While the DCEU’s best movies examined superpowered beings in a darkly complex world that had much in common with our own, I am excited to see this new universe do something more outlandish. This Superman film has already shown that it is willing to take drastic departures from realism, and that alone has me so excited about this new universe. I want to see robots, monsters, and gods alike come together to tell compelling stories from DC’s rich and multifaceted history.

I can’t wait for Superman for so many reasons, and many of my hopes for the movie are already satisfied in this one small scene where the тιтular hero can be seen cradling a broken robot. I want a Superman who is able to see the good in others, whether they be human, alien, or machine, and I want a DC Universe where those kinds of stories make sense. It seems that Superman is going to give us that, and I couldn’t be more excited for what is to come from this new world in 2025 and beyond.
