Why Dave Franco & Alison Brie Waited 7 Years To Act With Each Other Again In Horror Movie With 100% RT Score

Dave Franco and Alison Brie explain why it took them seven years to reunite for Together, a horror film that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The upcoming horror movie follows a couple after moving to the countryside when a supernatural encounter starts to transform their love, their lives, and their flesh. Off-screen, Brie and Franco have been partners since 2011 and married in 2017. Together holds an impressive 100% Rotten Tomatoes score after its Sundance debut and marks Brie and Franco’s first collaboration since The Disaster Artist and The Little Hours in 2017.

During a recent interview with Screen Rant at Sundance on Together’s press line, Franco and Brie discussed the seven-year wait between their collaborations. They explained that while they’ve been approached for roles together, they have been careful not to “over expose” their relationship in films. Franco also noted that they aim to find the right project every few years, to which Brie jokingly replied he has to write it. Check out the couple’s comments below:

Franco: “I think we are kind of actively trying to find something to do together every couple years, just because we have the greatest time.”

Brie: “And usually, Dave has to write it. So that takes a long time. [Laughs]”

Franco: “Right, that takes a while, yeah, that’s fair. [Chuckles] And then in terms of choosing the right thing, a lot of people do come to us to play couples in certain scripts, but we’re pretty selective, because we don’t want to over expose ourselves as a couple and make everyone sick of seeing us. But this felt like the right one, because the couple in the movie, they’ve been together over 10 years, and we felt like our real relationship could lend itself really well to that dynamic.”
