Cameron Diaz’s Next Movie In One Of The Highest-Grossing Franchises Ever Can Finally End Her Disappointing 20-Year RT Streak

Cameron Diaz’s Back in Action has continued a disappointing 20-year Rotten Tomatoes streak, but her return to one of the highest-grossing franchises ever could finally end this. Cameron Diaz exited retirement for Back in Action, the new Netflix spy comedy in which she stars alongside Jamie Foxx. Unfortunately, Back in Action wasn’t a critical hit, continuing a trend that has plagued her for two decades now.

After the release of 2014’s Annie, legendary actor Cameron Diaz decided to take a break from acting. According to Diaz, she was tired of traveling for filming, with her instead deciding to spend her time working on other ventures like books and startup companies. This was a shocking announcement considering Diaz’s legendary career, with her appearing in all kinds of beloved films. Luckily, Diaz is back, meaning that this upcoming movie can redeem her Rotten Tomatoes bad luck.

After Back In Action, Cameron Diaz Hasn’t Had A Movie With A Positive Rotten Tomatoes Score Since 2005

The Last One Was In Her Shoes

As of the writing of this article, Cameron Diaz’s comeback movie Back in Action has a 25% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning that the film is rotten. Unfortunately, this is the latest entry in a long streak of rotten movies, as she hasn’t had a positive critic score since 2005. Before Back in Action, Diaz also appeared in other movies with rotten scores, like Annie, Sєx Tape, The Other Woman, The Unbelievers, The Counselor, Gambit, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Bad Teacher, The Green Hornet, Knight and Day, Shrek Forever After, The Box, My Sister’s Keeper, What Happens in Vegas, Shrek the Third, and The Holiday.

The last movie that Cameron Diaz appeared in that got a positive critics score was 2005’s In Her Shoes. The film currently sits at 74% on Rotten Tomatoes as of the writing of this article, meaning that it is far better than anything that Diaz has made sense. For an actor who has appeared in so many great movies, this is sad, and hopefully she can break this trend soon.

Shrek 5 Could Finally Give Cameron Diaz Another Positive Rotten Tomatoes Score

Making Up For The Last 20 Years

Cameron Diaz will be playing Fiona in Shrek 5, giving Cameron Diaz a chance to get another positive Rotten Tomatoes score. Shrek and Shrek 2 are critically acclaimed, and the franchise’s most recent entry, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, was beloved. This means that DreamWorks may be able to get Shrek 5 right, making another great entry in the franchise.

However, Shrek the Third and Shrek Forever After both have rotten scores, meaning that there is a chance that Shrek 5 could repeat this. However, DreamWorks has to know how important Shrek is, and Shrek 5 may be taking so long due to DreamWorks’ commitment to getting the film right. A great Shrek 5 is what Cameron Diaz needs after Back in Action, and hopefully it will happen.
