Scream 7 has just announced the return of a surprising actor, hinting that the sequel will undo a fantastic Jenna Ortega story from Scream VI. Scream 7 will be taking a new direction for the modern series, with it returning to the story of Sidney Prescott after spending the last two films focusing on Tara and Sam Carpenter. However, some other characters from the modern movies will be returning for Scream 7, including this one who has a major tie to Jenna Ortega’s Tara.
The story of the legendary slasher franchise is set to continue in 2026 with the release of Scream 7. After the release of Scream VI, Melissa Berrera was fired from Scream 7 after expressing some controversial political views, leading to all kinds of fallout. Jenna Ortega and Scream VI directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin left the project, leaving the future of Scream 7 up in the air. Scream 7 is moving forward with a different team, although not everyone is new.
Chad Returning Without Tara In Scream 7 Hints Their Scream 6 Romance Is Over
It Would Be Weird If They Were Dating
Mason Gooding’s Chad Meeks-Martin was a fan-favorite member of the Core Four in 2022’s Scream and Scream VI, and Chad will now be returning in Scream 7. Chad’s role in the story of Scream 7 isn’t yet known, but he will presumably be the link between the stories of Scream VI and Sidney’s Scream 7 story. However, since Jenna Ortega’s Tara isn’t returning, it seems like her romance with Chad won’t be either.
It wouldn’t make sense for Chad to be in a relationship with Tara if she isn’t in Scream 7, meaning that the film will probably write their romance out. If Chad dies without Tara in the movie, it would upset fans who care about the character, as they would want to see Tara’s reaction. It would also be strange for Scream 7 to maintain this link to a character who will probably never be seen again.
Chad’s Return Still Means Scream 7 Can’t Avoid Giving An Update On Sam & Tara
The Movie Has To Address Them Now
Although Sam and Tara won’t appear in Scream 7, Chad’s return means that the movie has to give an update on them. If none of the Scream VI characters were returning, the sequel could avoid addressing the missing characters, as Sidney didn’t appear in Scream VI. However, bringing Chad back means that he will undoubtedly have to reference Sam and Tara in Scream 7.
Even if it is small, Chad will have to explain why Sam and Tara aren’t involved in the new Ghostface mystery as well as why he no longer has a romance with Tara. Chad’s return in Scream 7 really complicates things, making the sequel’s links to Scream VI even more mysterious.
