Live-Action Masters Of The Universe’s Evil-Lyn Star Teases Physical Prep Ahead Of Filming

Alison Brie is gearing up for her role as Evil-Lyn in the upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe film, revealing that she is focused on physical training ahead of filming. Set for release in June 2026, Masters of the Universe‘s story is an upcoming American superhero film based on Mattel’s franchise of the same name, and serves as a reboot to the 1983 television series and 1987 film. Brie will star alongside Nicholas Galtizine, Camila Mendes, Jared Leto, and Idris Elba.

During a recent interview with Variety alongside her husband, Dave Franco, Brie confirmed that she is working to get “a little more buffed up” for her role as Evil-Lyn. She teased that she is retaining the muscle tone she developed during her time on Netflix’s popular female wrestling show GLOW, in which she played Ruth “Zoya the Destroya” Wilder. Check out Brie’s comments from the interview below:

I have been doing it for years! I’ve like, just been maintaining since Glow, a pretty steady layer of muscle. But I’ve been trying to get a little more buffed up.

What This Means For Masters of the Universe

Alison Brie is Fully Committed to Evil-Lyn

Similar to actor Nicholas Galtizine, Alison Brie’s commitment to physical training for Masters of the Universe demonstrates her dedication to capturing Evil-Lyn’s powerful presence. Known for portraying strong characters, Brie has a history of physically demanding roles, such as in GLOW, where she trained for wrestling scenes. Her background extends beyond physical roles, with notable performances in Community and The Post, where her characters required versatility.

Additionally, Brie’s preparation speaks to the scale of the film’s action scenes and the physical demands that come with portraying a character of Evil-Lyn’s stature. Brie’s transformation is likely to bring a modern interpretation of the character that fits the vision of the film’s director, Travis Knight, who in the past has directed films based on toy franchises like TransformersBumblebee. Evil-Lyn is a complex figure and one of the strongest characters in the Masters of the Universe franchise, making Brie’s physical preparation essential to her portrayal of the villain.
