Rachel Sennott, co-writer and star of Bottoms, shared an optimistic update on the possibility of reuniting with co-star Ayo Edebiri for future projects. Released in 2023, Bottoms follows two unpopular best friends, PJ and Josie, who start a high school fight club to meet girls and lose their virginity, only to find themselves in over their heads when the popular students begin beating each other up in the name of self-defense. The film stars Sennott and Edebiri alongside Ruby Cruz, Havana Rose Liu, Nicholas Galitzine, and Marshawn Lynch. Bottoms had positive reviews, and earned a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score.
During a recent interview for Bunnylovr at the Sundance Film Festival with ScreenRant‘s Tatiana Hullender, Sennott spoke about her ongoing work in the writers’ room for an upcoming show. While details about the aforementioned show are under wraps, she mentioned the idea of collaborating with Edebiri again, suggesting that the two are exploring opportunities for future creative partnerships. Check out her comments below:
I know! I know. Hey, look, there’s a lot. We’re working on a lot. Unfortunately, writing takes forever. Writing is the slowest thing of everything, and no one knows when you’re doing it. I’m like, “I swear to God, I’m writing. I promise!”
I’m in the writers’ room right now working on my show. But it takes so long, and you have to think so much. So, we need to find 100% our next thing. I just want to keep working with my friends.
