Where To Watch Companion: Showtimes & Streaming Status

Jack Quaid and Sophie Thatcher star in Companion, a new movie that blends the horror, thriller, dark comedy, and science-fiction genres. The teaser trailer depicts a twisted relationship as Josh (Quaid) sets Iris’ (Sophie Thatcher) right hand on fire while her left hand is handcuffed to a chair. He is also seen smiling as he points a gun at her. The official trailer reveals how Companion is a science-fiction movie in which Iris is a humanoid companion robot who becomes aware of her reality and seeks revenge against Josh.

Companion‘s reviews have been generally positive, with praise directed at Quaid and Thatcher’s performances, along with the movie’s ability to effectively balance its various genres. The reviews also make it clear that the movie offers more than the plot twist about Iris that was shown in the official trailer. With Companion being one of the final movies released in January 2025, here is where it can be seen in theaters, along with when it is expected to be available on streaming and available for digital rental or purchase.

As a Warner Bros. movie, Companion will eventually be available to stream on Max. Based on data projections of when previous Warner Bros. movies have made their debut on Max, Companion will likely release on streaming in mid-April. Most Warner Bros. movies come to Max between 2–3 months after first releasing in theaters. The exact release date may vary depending on how successful Companion‘s theatrical run proves to be.

Before heading to Max, Companion will become available for digital rental or purchase. The turnaround window for digital release is much shorter than the turnaround for streaming. Except for mᴀssive box office hits like Barbie, Wonka, and Dune: Part Two, most Warner Bros. movies in recent years have become available to buy or rent on PVOD 30 days or less after first releasing in theaters. While it does not have a confirmed digital release date yet, past projections indicate that Companion‘s digital debut will be in the second half of February.
