2024 Nicolas Cage Horror Movie With A 78% Rotten Tomatoes Score Tops Streaming Charts (And It’s Not Longlegs)

Nicolas Cage is one of the more eclectic actors of his generation. On the one hand, he is a two-time Oscar nominee who won Best Actor in 1996 for his starring role in Leaving Las Vegas. On the other hand, he is an actor who has seen career slumps, including films that have bombed at the box office and been widely hated by critics. Multiple Cage-led movies have gotten single-digit Tomatometers on Rotten Tomatoes, including Left Behind (0%), Arsenal (3%), 211 (4%), and Grand Isle (9%).

Recent years, however, have proven more successful for Cage. He has turned his negative Rotten Tomatoes streak around by acting in some well-received films, such as his faux-biographical The Unbearable Weight of Mᴀssive Talent, which got an 87% Tomatometer. The actor has also made his foray into the horror space, where his credits have included genre-bending works such as Color Out of Space and Mandy. Last year, he was in the Osgood Perkins-directed Longlegs, which got an 86% Tomatometer and did well at the box office. Now, Cage’s other 2024 horror release has made its way to an impressive position on the streaming charts.

Arcadian Is The Top Movie On Hulu

Arcadian Underwhelmed At The Box Office

Arcadian has soared to the top of the Hulu charts. The 2024 survival horror film sees Cage play the father of two teenage boys, all of whom must work to survive the end of the world while living in a remote farmhouse. Arcadian was decently received, getting a 78% Tomatometer among critics. Audiences were far more split on the movie, giving it a 56% Popcornmeter. Likewise, the film underperformed in theaters, grossing just $1.2 million during its release.

Audiences seem to have given Arcadian a second chance as the film succeeds on streaming. According to FlixPatrol, Arcadian is now the no. 1 movie on Hulu in the United States today, January 27. Not only did it top the movie chart, but Arcadian is also Hulu’s top тιтle across movies and TV, ranking above hit series like High Potential and The Rookie.

Our Take On Arcadian’s Hulu Success

Cage Is A Big Draw

Nicolas Cage sits under a tree in Arcadian

Longlegs consumed a lot of the conversation about Cage’s 2024, so it is interesting to see Arcadian on the top of the charts now. The film also stands out from other movies on the Hulu charts today, which is composed primarily of franchise films like Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Twilight, and John Wick. As such, Arcadian‘s success is a testament to how interested audiences are in Cage despite his mixed levels of success on screen. Even if Arcadian did not succeed in theaters, Cage is likely what helped it swing the other way.
