Why Thunderbolts* Will Continue The MCU’s Win Streak After ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine Thoughtfully Explained By Star: “It’s A Completely Fresh Take”

A Thunderbolts* actor explains why the movie will wrap up the MCU’s Phase 5 on a high note. Thunderbolts* will follow Captain America: Brave New World as the MCU’s second 2025 theatrical release, and it will mark the end of the Multiverse Saga’s Phase 5 before The Fantastic Four: First Steps launches Phase 6 in July 2025. Thunderbolts*‘ star-studded cast plays some of the MCU’s ᴅᴇᴀᴅliest anti-heroes, but also some villains that hadn’t appeared on screen in a long time. With its biggest mysteries still under wraps, the anticipation for Thunderbolts*‘ May 2025 release is on the rise.

In an interview with ScreenRant at Sundance about her role in the movie Oh, Hi!, Thunderbolts* star Geraldine Viswanathan shares her thoughts on what makes Thunderbolts* a special MCU project. Like several other Phase 5 movies and shows, Thunderbolts*‘ production was affected by various delays and changes. Despite these setbacks, Viswanathan highlights Thunderbolts*“completely fresh take” on the MCU, director Jake Schreier’s vision, and her costars’ performances. Geraldine Viswanathan’ full comments below:

Ooh, I think Thunderbolts* is unlike anything you’ve ever seen in the Marvel Universe. I think it’s a completely fresh take. I think Jake Schreier is a genius and has really brought his style and sensibility to the universe. And the performances are unbelievable. It’s also really funny.

What The Thunderbolts* Star’s Comments Mean For The MCU Movie

Thunderbolts* Has Managed To Stay On Track Despite A Few Changes

Thunderbolts*‘ delays led to a few major changes, including the studio’s need to recast a couple of characters. Lewis Pullman’s Bob a.k.a. Sentry was previously set to be played by The Walking ᴅᴇᴀᴅ star Steven Yeun, and Geraldine Viswanathan’s mystery character was previously set to be played by The Bear Ayo Edibiri. Both Steven Yeun and Ayo Edibiri left Thunderbolts* due to scheduling conflicts after the MCU movie’s delays. Nevertheless, Thunderbolts*‘ behind-the-scenes changes don’t seem to be an obstacle for its success, as its cast and director have been pretty confident about the final product.

Thunderbolts* promises to be an especially grounded entry, which may provide a breath of fresh air following the large-scale sci-fi extravaganza seen in recent releases such as ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine, The Marvels, and Agatha All Along. How exactly Thunderbolts* will present a “completely fresh take” on the MCU is yet to be seen, as similar тιтles such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Hawkeye left the bar quite high. Luckily, Thunderbolts* has the element of surprise on its side.

Our Take On The Thunderbolts* Star’s Comments

Thunderbolts*’ Best Moments Are Reserved For Its Release

Thunderbolts*‘ trailers have teased every aspect Geraldine Viswanathan praised in her comments, including each actor’s individual performance and Thunderbolts*‘ sense of humor. However, most of Thunderbolts*‘ best qualities seem to be reserved for its theatrical release. Sentry’s full-blown superhero form, Thunderbolts*‘ final battle, each character’s true allegiances, and Geraldine Viswanathan’s mystery Thunderbolts* character herself haven’t been spoiled by the movie’s marketing yet. Hence, Thunderbolts* may have plenty of positive surprises in store for fans.
