Uncut Gems Star Julia Fox Reveals She Lives With A Ghost Named Beauty: “I Feel So Bad Putting Her On Blast”

Julia Fox, known for her breakout role in Uncut Gems, shared a thrilling revelation: she lives with a ghost in her new Harlem estate. This disclosure comes as Fox promotes her latest film, Presence, a supernatural horror directed by Steven Soderbergh (Sєx, Lies, and Videotapes) with a script penned by David Koepp. The movie explores the eerie dynamics of a family convinced they are not alone in their new home, sH๏τ entirely from the first-person perspective of a ghost. Alongside Fox, the Presence cast includes Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan (This Is Us), Callina Liang, Eddy Maday, and West Mulholland.

During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Fox opens up about her newfound life alongside a ghost named Beauty, detailing her real-life connection to the supernatural. The cutting-edge fashion model and beloved it-girl debuted as an actor in 2019 with the Safdie brothers’ Uncut Gems where she played a savvy saleswoman entangled in an affair with Adam Sandler’s Howard. Last year, Fox returned to the screen in a brief role as a realtor in Soderbergh’s Presence. Here’s what she had to say:

I feel like I was always kind of like that weird kid that could sense things, you know? And I actually have a ghost in my house right now. I feel like I talk about her a lot, and I feel so bad. I’m, like, putting her on blast. Like, I don’t know if she wants me to talk about her.

Her name is Beauty and she came with the house. She didn’t follow me there, but it was funny. You know, it begins like any ghost story. I felt a pull toward this house, and it was a full moon. And then I was like, that’s it, I’m getting the house.

And then we went down to the basement after we’d already moved all our stuff in. There was a little letter from the previous owners basically saying like, this is Beauty. And it had all her things, her hairbrush, her mirror.

She’s wonderful. She’s like the matriarch of the house. She watches over us and we love her. My son actually sees her. I don’t see her, but my son will say ‘I saw her, I saw her.’

What Fox’s Ghost Story Means

The Supernatural Side Of Fox

Fox’s connection to the supernatural mirrors her knack for roles that explore the hidden, emotional undercurrents of life. From her gritty turn in Uncut Gems to her brief but formative appearance in Presence, Fox has quietly carved out a niche in emotionally charged storytelling. Her character in Presence, though limited to the film’s opening, serves as the catalyst for the Payne family’s journey into a realm of mystery and dread as they are forced to face their dysfunction. Nonetheless, Fox and her ghost Beauty seem to have a nicer dynamic than the one shown in Soderbergh’s horror movie.

In a review of the film, Screen Rant‘s Patrice Witherspoon gave Presenece a score of 8 out of 10, writing, “Without relying on cheap jump scares, Soderbergh’s psychological horror thriller is a shattering mystery about instinct that will chill you.” Fox’s role in Presence may be brief, but her ability to anchor a scene and bring layers of intrigue, as she expertly did in Uncut Gems, reflects her growing stature in Hollywood. Just as she brings intensity and authenticity to her roles, her real-life ghost story adds yet another mysterious dimension to her avant-garde persona, making her a compelling figure on and off the screen.

Our Take On Fox & Beauty

A Hollywood Star Embraces The Unseen

A suburban house from above in the Presence teaser

Julia Fox’s revelation about her ghostly housemate, Beauty, is as compelling as the unique roles she gravitates toward. With Safdie’s Uncut Gems, Soderbergh’s Presence, and the upcoming sapphic romance Perfect, Fox consistently brings depth, grit, and undeniable heart to her work. Her live-in ghost adds to her mystique, as the former dominatrix and New York social lite develops a penchant for projects that push boundaries and wade in the unknown. Fox’s ability to weave her real-life quirks into her rising star power makes her a refreshing and exciting figure in Hollywood, one who continues to surprise and captivate at every turn.
