I’m Still Annoyed About 1 Avengers: Endgame Detail That Avengers 6 Can Fix 8 Years Later

While Avengers: Endgame left the bar quite high, Avengers: Secret Wars can surpᴀss the MCU’s Phase 3 finale with a small but significant change. More than eleven years’ worth of worldbuilding and many characters’ character arcs culminated in Phase 3’s Avengers: Endgame. The whole Infinity Saga reached a climax when Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man sacrificed his life to defeat Thanos and his army. A few years later, the MCU is now heading to a similar landmark, with the MCU’s upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars set to bring the Multiverse Saga to an end.

The MCU multiverse allows characters from all Marvel movies and shows to come together for one final battle, probably against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Although not confirmed yet, Avengers: Secret Wars‘ cast will likely include iconic characters such as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds’ ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool, and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, plus all the old and new heroes introduced throughout the years. These characters’ mere appearance is an exciting idea, but one detail could take their appearance to the next level.

Several Avengers Lacked Their Iconic Looks In Endgame’s Final Battle

Some Of The Avengers’ Classic Looks Were Missing In Their Battle Against Thanos

Watching Spider-Man join forces with Thor and Hulk on the big screen was certainly a dream come true for many Marvel fans. However, none of these three characters looked or acted like they usually do. Spider-Man’s Iron Spider armor, Thor’s all-black suit, Smart Hulk’s depowered form, Hawkeye’s Ronin costume, and War Machine’s Iron Patriot armor may date Avengers: Endgame‘s final battle, as these looks were temporary and didn’t represent the heroes’ classic style and personality. Spider-Man isn’t particularly known for using high-tech gadgets, and Hulk’s main appeal is his incredible strength, for example.

Avengers: Endgame‘s final battle is an unparalleled cinematic event, but it could have been slightly more accurate to the source material if all the heroes were wearing their classic suits and using their classic abilities. Vision and Black Widow’s absence also stood out, though their death was necessary to make the final battle happen. Fortunately, Iron Man and Captain America’s final suits compensated for the lack of comic-accurate costumes, and Avengers: Endgame‘s character-packed final battle was so well-paced and entertaining that some heroes’ alternate looks weren’t too distracting.

Secret Wars’ Final Battle Could Look Better With The Avengers’ Classic Looks

Secret Wars Has An Easy Explanation For The Avengers’ Classic Appearances

Avengers: Secret Wars will be a love letter to Marvel’s movie and television history thanks to the return of many familiar faces. There’s no better way to do these actors and characters justice than to give them their comic-accurate costumes. Part of the reason why Spider-Man: No Way Home and ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine were so highly-anticipated and well-received is that fans wanted to see character portrayals such as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men wearing their classic costumes. And of course, both movies fulfilled those dreams.

if Tom Holland’s Spider-Man relied on his original web-shooters and physical prowess instead of Iron Man’s technology, he could pull off spectacular moves

Comic-accurate costumes would not only be welcome in a visual sense, but their classic looks could also allow for thrilling action sequences. For instance, if Mark Ruffalo’s Smart Hulk turns back into his savage self, the original rage-fueled Hulk could pull off powerful combos with heroes like Wolverine and Spider-Man. Likewise, if Tom Holland’s Spider-Man relied on his original web-shooters and physical prowess instead of Iron Man’s technology, he could pull off spectacular moves with the help of other heroes.

The MCU Is On Track To Give Its Main Characters Their Most Comic-Accurate Look Yet

The Multiverse Saga’s Comic-Accurate Costumes Are A Highlight Of Phases 4 Through 6

Despite how complex the Multiverse Saga has been, Marvel Studios has pleased fans with the appearance of long-awaited comic-accurate costumes. In Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s ending scene, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man debuted a minimalistic, nanotech-less, hand-sewn costume after several years of wearing Stark-made suits, to fans’ delight. Hugh Jackman’s classic yellow-and-blue Wolverine costume and mask also marked a major landmark in Marvel movie history, as Jackman hadn’t worn any outfit that resembled the character’s classic look in over twenty years’ worth of appearances in Fox’s X-Men movie franchise.

By Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, other MCU characters could follow suit and get their most comic-accurate looks to date. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor could wear his classic helmet, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil could get the “DD” logo on his chest, and the MCU’s Fantastic Four could receive a more faithful recreation of their blue-and-white or blue-and-black uniforms. Most importantly, all heroes could keep their suits intact until Avengers: Secret Wars‘ final battle, similarly to how Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine mask somehow survived until the very end of ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine.
