“Jason Delivers”: David Ayer Seemingly Teases Future Jason Statham Projects As Beekeeper 2 Wait Continues

With David Ayer’s A Working Man arriving in theaters in March, the director shares a positive update hinting towards future collaborations between himself and action star Jason Statham. The duo first worked together on 2024’s The Beekeeper, a feature which saw Statham play a former elite ᴀssᴀssin who embarks on a quest for vengeance that pits him against high-profile and dangerous individuals. A Working Man stars Statham as a former Royal Marine who sets out to rescue his boss’ daughter from a group of human traffickers.

As A Working Man draws ever closer, Ayer has shared a positive update to his working relationship with Statham on Twitter/X. Ayer quote-tweeted a post by comic book artist Rob Liefeld that emphasized his excitement at the upcoming feature. The director thanked Liefeld for his positive praise and stated he feels he and Statham have a good bond, calling it “a winning formula.” His full post is below:

What A Working Man’s Success Could Mean For Ayer And Statham’s Future

The Pair’s Previous Feature Was A Welcome Hit

Ayer’s collaborations with Statham have marked a positive change for the director’s career after a string of negatively received features throughout the late 2010s. The Beekeeper was received positively, and managed to gross a total of $153 million worldwide on a $40 million budget. As such, it seems Ayer has been able to forge a promising new path for his career through his collaborations with Statham.

Should A Working Man continue the positive trend for Ayer and Statham, it is likely that studios, especially Amazon MGM Studios, whom Ayer worked with on both the upcoming movie and The Beekeeper, would be willing to finance future features with the two. Furthermore, Ayer has previously stated that The Beekeeper 2 is a possibility, meaning A Working Man‘s success could make a sequel more likely. Ayer’s kind words about Statham only make this possibility even more likely, as it shows the two have a positive working relationship that they will presumably want to continue.

Our Take On Ayer And Statham’s Future

The Pair’s Collaborations Have Been A Return To Form

While it may not offer anything too revolutionary, The Beekeeper was praised as an acceptable feature that showed Statham at his best as his character cut through foes and uncovered a vast conspiracy. It was a solid action flick that played to both Statham and Ayer’s strengths. As such, if A Working Man plays the same way, it would only highlight how great they are together and confirm they should continue working together on future projects.

Furthermore, even if Amazon MGM Studios does not wish to continue with either a sequel to The Beekeeper or another project altogether, it appears that Ayer and Statham’s relationship is strong enough that they may wish to work together even with another studio. As such, A Working Man could help open new doors for the duo.
