This Horror Movie Franchise’s Long-Awaited Return Sounds More Exciting Than Scream 7

A missed horror franchise is soon returning with Final Destination 6, which will officially reboot the series. More than a decade since the last chapter, the confirmation of Final Destination: Bloodlines already sounds far more exciting than the arrival of Scream 7. Updates on the movie have been few and far between, but Warner Bros. has revealed that Final Destination 6 will return to the big screen mid-way through 2025, and will be available in the IMAX format for viewers. That being said, the studio has withheld any details regarding the plot of the upcoming movie.

The timing of Final Destination 6 is particularly noteworthy, as a number of horror franchises have been rebooted with considerable success over the past couple of years. The Final Destination franchise arrived in the early 2000s with a simple premise, but one that was incredibly effective. Now, the sixth installment has the opportunity to restore interest in the long-standing franchise and execute some of the most shocking deaths that the series has ever seen.

Final Destination 6 Will Restart The Franchise Almost 14 Years Later

The 14-Year Gap Between Films Makes Final Destination 6 All The More Exciting

It’s been over a decade since the memorable timeline twist of Final Destination 5, which set up the movie as a prequel to the franchise. However, the fifth chapter in the Final Destination franchise was still rather disappointing and condemned for its unexceptional story and underdeveloped characters. The arrival of Final Destination 6 hints at greater possibilities, which only serves to heighten audience anticipation for the franchise’s revival. The considerable amount of time between films is crucial, as the scope of the horror genre has drastically increased — which may broaden Final Destination‘s horizons.

Moreover, Final Destination 6 is far more exciting simply because of the gap between films. As with the majority of horror franchises, the Final Destination series has a dedicated fanbase that is likely to ensure the new movie’s commercial success. Although the stakes are high for the upcoming reboot, the performance of previous films proves that it does nothing to dispel audiences from returning to theaters for new installments. In addition to this, Final Destination‘s creator, Jeffrey Reddick, has confirmed Final Destination 6 will have a different feel compared to the previous movies, which is a rather hopeful prospect.

Scream 7 Can Be Great, But Final Destination 6 Sounds More Exciting

Final Destination Has A Lot More Potential To Reinvent Itself

Meanwhile, the news about Scream 7 suggests that it could be the franchise’s turning point, as it may be set to change everything that has come before. However, the fact still remains that Scream 7 appears to be a reboot of a reboot. Obviously, Kevin Williamson’s upcoming movie will likely still be a huge success, but for all intents and purposes, the feature will not feel as fresh as when the franchise was reignited several years ago. Final Destination 6 has the upper hand in terms of excitement, and it will reap the benefits.

The project is more promising because of the pledge to break away from the franchise’s formulaic approach that made Final Destination become stale.

The sixth entry into the Final Destination series will be a completely fresh start for the franchise. There has been a minor renaissance in the horror genre in recent years, and Final Destination 6 could become a part of this movement by reintroducing a sort of horror that has been sorely missing. The project is more promising because of the pledge to break away from the franchise’s formulaic approach that made Final Destination become stale. Creators have confirmed: “It’s a true Final Destination movie, but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve […] established.” (via Dread Central)
