Poohniverse Crossover Movie Monsters ᴀssembled Gets Release Update From Franchise Producer & Director

The Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble movie receives a release update from the franchise’s producer and director. The Twisted Childhood Universe, which reimagines characters from children’s media as murderous villains, began in 2023 with Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, which was followed by the 2024 sequel, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2. Upcoming installments include Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio: Unstrung – all culminating in the crossover Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble movie, which is slated for release in 2025.

During an exclusive interview with ScreenRant, the TCU franchise producer and director Scott Chambers shared a release update for Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble. Chambers says they are still planning on shooting it this summer and releasing it around Halloween 2025. However, if they are unable to finish it in time, it will come out in the first quarter of 2026. Read his full comments below:

I very much plan on shooting this summer, and it just depends. If we’re able to turn it around and release it for the Halloween period of 2025, I will definitely do that. I don’t want to rush it because I’m aware that the fans of this stuff that we are doing, their expectations are quite high. So I don’t want to just smash it out and that everyone’s disappointed. I am going to take time with it, but I never work slow anyway. I’m not used to doing that. So you’ll get it quick.

I feel like at the moment where we stand, the time period for this coming out would be like Halloween 2025. But if we miss that, it’ll probably be the first quarter of 2026, so it won’t be far off it.

What Scott Chambers’ Comments Mean For Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble

He Cares About The Quality Of The Crossover

Scott Chambers emphasizes that he doesn’t want to rush Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble and risk disappointing fans, reflecting his commitment to improving the quality of the TCU. Chambers produced the franchise’s first film, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, which earned overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics, receiving a terrible 3% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but garnered a more mixed response from fans, earning a 49% audience score. In Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, Chambers took on the role of Christopher Robin, replacing Nikolai Leon from the first film, and many critics considered the sequel to be an improvement over its predecessor.

Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who directed both Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey movies, and Chambers have been committed to improving the quality of future films in the TCU franchise, including Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble. However, early reactions to Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, which Chambers wrote and directed, have been mixed. Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare reviews call it a dark and disturbing reimagining of the classic story which, with a lack of humor and whimsy, may disappoint those looking for a lighter take.

Our Take On Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble

The TCU Could Get Worse

So far, each installment in the TCU has struggled with flimsy plots, inconsistent performances, and an overall absence of genuine horror or humor. These problems will likely only get worse in Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble, which faces the added challenge of juggling returning characters – such as Winnie-the-Pooh, Peter Pan, Bambi, Pinocchio, and more – with introducing new ones, such as Sleeping Beauty and Mary Poppins. With such an overwhelming ensemble, this may only intensify the franchise’s issues, making Poohniverse: Monsters ᴀssemble another chaotic and underwhelming experience.

Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare will be in theaters for three days only from January 13–15 from Iconic Events Releasing.
