The Woman In The Yard Trailer Reveals New Blumhouse Horror Movie From Director Of Netflix’s Record-Setting 2024 Thriller

The new trailer has been revealed for Jaume Collet-Serra’s The Woman in the Yard. The new horror-thriller is the latest from Blumhouse, the studio behind hits such as M3GAN and Five Nights At Freddy’s. Collet-Serra previously directed Carry-On, a Taron Egerton thriller that became one of the most-viewed Netflix movies of all time after its release at the end of 2024. The Woman in the Yard cast includes Danielle ᴅᴇᴀᴅwyler, Russell Hornsby, Okwui Okpokwasili, Estella Kahiha, and Peyton Jackson.

Now, Blumhouse has revealed the trailer for The Woman in the Yard. The trailer opens with an atmospheric and eerie introduction to the film’s outdoor setting, as the camera whirls through the grᴀss and focuses on select elements. After the camera reveals the house in the center of this grᴀssy yard, it is revealed that the family inside is being haunted by a mysterious veiled person who sits on a chair in their yard. At the end of the trailer, the woman in the yard says her only line — “today’s the day” — as her bloody hands are revealed.

What This Means For The Woman In The Yard

The Setting Plays A Key Role In The Film

It is clear that The Woman in the Yard will treat the setting like a character. Even the тιтle references the “yard,” which is the habitat for the veiled antagonist in the film, as well as a distinctive environment around the leading family’s home. Because the main threat in the film is located in this yard, the seemingly safer interior of the house will also play a vital role in the film.

The Blumhouse movie’s trailer also emphasized how the film works with a small cast. It seems that the only characters, or at least the people who take up the majority of the screen time, will be the family and the antagonist. In some ways, this could build up more pressure in The Woman in the Yard, as the main family is alone in their fight against the evil powers. What this antagonist might come to represent in the movie remains untold.

Our Take On The Woman In The Yard Trailer

The Woman In The Yard Trailer Leaves The Right Amount Of Mystery

The Woman In The Yard (1)

In my opinion, The Woman in the Yard has everything a good trailer should have. It establishes the main players while giving away very little about them. It sets the tone of the film but holds back on several key points of exposition and plot. This leaves me excited about The Woman in the Yard, as there is still so much to discover about the film when it hits theaters on March 28.
