Mark Wahlberg’s Raunchy Buddy Comedy Finds Streaming Success 13 Years After Becoming A Box Office Smash

Mark Wahlberg
‘s career has been incredibly varied over three decades. He has worked with some highly influential directors on critically acclaimed films, which started with his breakout role playing Eddie/Dirk in Boogie Nights, an epic drama directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. This role earned him buzz, but it was not until a decade later that he received his first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for The Departed. Wahlberg also got a nomination for his producing work on The Fighter, which was nominated for Best Picture.

While these critically acclaimed films have been part of Wahlberg’s career, he is also an actor capable of making a big box office hit. His top movie at the worldwide box office was Transformers: Age of Extinction, followed by Transformers: The Last Knight. Several other movies have made hundreds of millions of dollars, bringing his aggregate career gross to over $5 billion. Now, one of Wahlberg’s biggest box office successes has found new life on streaming over a decade later.

Ted Is Doing Well On Streaming

Wahlberg’s Humor Was Perfect.

Ted is finding success on streaming. The raunchy 2012 movie follows an unlikely pairing of John Bennett (Wahlberg) and his swearing, beer-drinking reanimated childhood teddy bear, Ted. Despite its ridiculous concept and mixed reviews, Ted ended up being an enormous box-office success, grossing over $556 million worldwide against an estimated $50 million budget. It was so successful that it even spawned a sequel, Ted 2, and a 2024 Peacock TV show.

Ted has squeaked its way onto Prime Video’s top 10 movies in the United States today, taking the no. 10 spot. It ousted the Emilia Clarke-led romance movie Me Before You but sits on this chart with several returning тιтles, including The Fall Guy, In the Land of Saints and Sinners, Tag, The Creator, The Equalizer 2, The Equalizer, A Quiet Place: Day One, Horrible Bosses 2, and Red One.

Wahlberg Is In A New Movie

One driving factor for Ted‘s reemergence of popularity could be attributed to its star, Wahlberg. The actor is in the movie Flight Risk, which is coming out on January 24. Those who have seen the Flight Risk trailer during their recent theatrical endeavors may be more likely to want to watch Wahlberg‘s work. The Ted TV show was also renewed for a second season, so those looking to catch up on the lore before the next season may also be interested in the film.
