Sonic 4 Is The Perfect Place To Introduce A Character All 3 Movies Have Tried & Failed To Include

The writers of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 can finally introduce a character that they have wanted to include in every movie in the series. Pat Casey and Josh Miller have written every movie in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The recently released Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the highest-rated entry in the series yet. Reviews for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 have been exceptional, and the film currently has a score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes (via Rotten Tomatoes). Following the success of Sonic 3, it has been confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is in development.

The story of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 follows Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, who are tasked with taking down Shadow, who awakens on Prison Island in Tokyo Bay, Japan at the beginning of the movie. Ivo and Gerald Robotnik both seemingly die at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which makes room for the series to introduce new characters. The post-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 introduces Amy Rose and Metal Sonic, who will likely be major characters in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4. However, Sonic 4 could also introduce Rouge the Bat.

All 3 Sonic The Hedgehog Movies Have Tried To Include Rouge The Bat

Sonic’s Writers Haven’t Found The Right Way To Introduce Rouge The Bat

Rouge the Bat is a character that was first introduced in the 2001 video game Sonic Adventure 2. She is an anthropomorphic bat who is slightly more complicated than some other Sonic characters. As a jewel thief who also works as a government spy, she is not wholly good, but also not wholly evil. Ever since her introduction, Rouge has been a mysterious and intriguing character in the Sonic video games.

After the release of Sonic 3, writers Casey and Miller told IGN that they have tried to include Rouge in all three Sonic movies. However, they have not found the right way to introduce the character. Including Rouge in the first Sonic the Hedgehog film may have been too soon, as she is not as popular as other Sonic characters, such as Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. However, it would have been great to see her featured in the second or third film. Since Rouge hasn’t been included yet, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 would be the perfect movie to introduce her.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Could Be The Right Time To Finally Introduce Rouge The Bat

Rouge Has Connections To Characters Like Shadow & Knuckles

After the reveal that Shadow is still alive at the end of Sonic 3, it would be great to see him work with Rouge the Bat in Sonic 4. Rouge’s introduction makes more sense now than ever before since her and Shadow often work together in the video games. While Rouge’s true intentions are never really known, Shadow is one of the few characters that she is actually loyal to. Furthermore, there are hints that Rouge has a crush on Shadow in the video games. Therefore, it would be great to see this pairing in Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

Rouge the Bat works for the Guardian Units of Nations in the video games. Since GUN is now well-established in the Sonic movies, her introduction would not feel forced in Sonic 4. Additionally, Knuckles being a mainstay in the Sonic films means that Rouge should definitely be introduced. Knuckles did not have a large role in Sonic 3, but including Rouge could give him more to do in Sonic 4. Knuckles is Rouge’s main rival in the games. Since she is a jewel thief, Rouge and Knuckles constantly fight over the Master Emerald, which has been introduced in the movies.

Rouge The Bat’s Sonic 4 Debut Might Come As Part Of A Franchise Tradition

Rouge Could Appear In Sonic 4’s Post-Credits Scene

After the introductions of Amy Rose and Metal Sonic during the post-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic 4 will have to juggle a lot of different characters. Characters like Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles also don’t know that Shadow is alive, which suggests that he may not have a large role in the fourth film. Therefore, it’s possible that Rouge the Bat won’t have a major role in Sonic 4. Instead of playing a major role in the story of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, it might be better to introduce Rouge in the film’s post-credits scene.

Introducing Rouge the Bat in the post-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 would set up a lot of potential stories for Sonic 5.

All the Sonic movies have introduced new characters in post-credits scenes. The first Sonic film teased Tails, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 revealed Shadow, and as mentioned, Sonic 3 introduced Amy Rose and Metal Sonic. Therefore, introducing Rouge the Bat in the post-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 would set up a lot of potential stories for Sonic 5. It is currently unknown if Rouge the Bat will be included in Sonic the Hedgehog 4, but she should definitely be introduced sooner rather than later.
