Keke Palmer‘s new comedy movie debuts with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. Since beginning her career as a child actress, Palmer has proven her versatility in both comedy and drama, appearing in Barbershop 2: Back in Business and The Wool Cap, both in 2004. However, her breakthrough came with a standout performance in the drama Akeelah and the Bee in 2006, and her career progressed with roles in Madea’s Family Reunion, the Disney Channel original movie Jump In!, The LongsH๏τs, and Shrink.

However, Palmer rose to further prominence on television, starring as the тιтular character in the Nickelodeon sitcom True Jackson, VP from 2008 to 2011. She later transitioned into more mainstream horror on television, starring in Fox’s satirical series Scream Queens and MTV’s slasher series Scream. As of late, Palmer has started to garner critical acclaim for some of her recent film roles, including her performance as a stripper in 2019’s Hustlers, followed by a lead role in Jordan Peele’s Nope in 2022.

One of Them Days, Keke Palmer’s new comedy movie, has debuted with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. Directed by newcomer Lawrence Lamont, with a script written by Syreeta Singleton (Insecure), the upcoming buddy comedy stars Keke Palmer and SZA, the latter in her film debut, as two roommates who must race against the clock to avoid eviction and preserve their friendship after one of their boyfriends steals their rent money. The cast also includes Vanessa Bell Calloway, Maude Apatow, Katt Williams, Amin Joseph, Gabrielle Dennis, Lil Rel Howery, and Janelle James.

Now, ahead of its theatrical release on January 17, One of Them Days has debuted with a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie has 24 reviews at the time of writing, so the score could fluctuate as more are published. With fewer than 50 verified ratings, the film doesn’t yet have an audience score, though that will change soon after it releases in theaters.

As an established comedic actor, Keke Palmer’s on-point performance is almost expected. However, as a newcomer, SZA arguably impresses even more, showcasing stellar chemistry with Keke Palmer and making One of Them Days a fun, laugh-filled, and socially aware buddy comedy. ScreenRant‘s Mae Abdulbaki gave the movie 6 out of 10 stars, saying in their One of Them Days review that “Keke Palmer and SZA’s buddy comedy is silly fun and reminds me how much I’ve missed movies like this.” By debuting to a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, the critics’ consensus is clear – Keke Palmer and SZA are comedic gold.

One of Them Days releases in theaters on January 17.
