Michael B Jordan’s Marvel Dream Role Is Now Possible In The MCU And It’s The Perfect Opportunity For His 10-Year-Old Superhero Failure To Be Redeemed

Michael B. Jordan is already part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he now has a chance to play his dream superhero, and that role could allow the actor to make up for a past disaster he appeared in. Throughout the years, Marvel Studios has managed to cast several talented Hollywood stars into key roles in the MCU. Jordan was one of those, with the actor giving life to Killmonger in 2018’s Black Panther, one of the MCU’s best movies. Since debuting in the MCU, the actor has gone on to play different versions of Killmonger.

Jordan would return as the main Killmonger in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Instead of seeing her brother when she consumes the Heart-Shaped Herb, Shuri sees Killmonger, as she also seeks power to take revenge on those who hurt her and her family, just like Jordan’s MCU villain did. The actor also played a Killmonger variant from the multiverse in the animated What If…? Seven years after he joined the franchise, there is a chance that Jordan could play a new character in future MCU movies, as his childhood dream Marvel role has now become possible, and it could redeem him.

The MCU’s Black Panther Reports Could Make Michael B Jordan’s Marvel Dream Role Possible For Him

T’Challa’s Death Was A Major Plot Point In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Chadwick Boseman died from colon cancer in 2020. Despite fans being mixed about how to proceed with T’Challa after the actor’s death, Marvel Studios chose to focus Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on Leтιтia Wright’s Shuri, who took over as the MCU’s new Black Panther. T’Challa died from an unknown illness, with the character not recast. However, it seems like Marvel might have changed its stance on the subject years after the last Black Panther movie. According to a new report, Marvel is looking to recast T’Challa. The move would happen in the Multiverse Saga.

The multiverse would be used to get a new T’Challa in the MCU, allowing Boseman’s character to be separate, not resurrecting the original Black Panther. According to the report, Marvel has already started reaching out to actors about the role, with the first star looked at for the part choosing not to take it. Recasting T’Challa will be a hard process, as Chadwick Boseman truly made the role his own and elevated the character to an icon in live-action superhero movies. Those are big shoes to fill, and Marvel would need the perfect actor for the job.

Casting Michael B Jordan In The MCU Again Could Be A Perfect Redemption For His Previous Marvel Movie Hero Role

The Actor Has Now Played A Marvel Hero And A Villain

That could very well happen to be Michael B. Jordan. While the actor has already played Killmonger not only in the MCU but specifically in the Black Panther franchise, the idea that the multiverse will be used to recast T’Challa allows Marvel to go back to the actor. There are a few factors that make a case for that casting. First, Jordan has appeared in all movies directed by Black Panther‘s Ryan Coogler. The actor was also close friends with Chadwick Boseman, whom he called a brother. Finally, Black Panther was Michael B. Jordan’s childhood dream Marvel role.

Michael B. Jordan could also redeem himself for his past Marvel hero. While the actor’s performance as Killmonger in the MCU is praised, with the character being one of the franchise’s most complex villains, Jordan’s take on the Human Torch in 2015’s Fantastic Four is not nearly as beloved. While he was not the problem with the film, the Fantastic Four reboot was so bad that every single star in that film has had to live with that stain on their careers. As Black Panther, Jordan could deliver a thrilling hero that makes up for Johnny Storm’s lack of success.

Robert Downey Jr & Chris Evans’ Marvel Movie Returns Make Michael B Jordan’s MCU Recasting Seem Possible

2024 Was A Big Year For MCU Returns

Recently, Marvel Studios has shown how Michael B. Jordan could come back as another major character like Black Panther after having already played Killmonger in the MCU. 2024 was the year of two major MCU returns. First, Chris Evans was the biggest secret star in ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine. While Evans played Captain America in the MCU, becoming the leader of the Avengers, the actor reprised his Johnny Storm role from the 2000s Fantastic Four movies. Similarly, Robert Downey Jr. would have his return to the franchise announced, only he is not playing Iron Man.

Instead of coming back as Tony Stark, Downey will now play Doctor Doom, who will serve as the main villain of the Multiverse Saga, appearing in the next two Avengers movies. Based on how the MCU’s biggest stars were brought back by Marvel through the multiverse in two other major roles, the door is open for Michael B. Jordan to fulfill his Marvel dream and play Black Panther. The new T’Challa could come from a different universe and simply look like Kilmonger but otherwise be nothing like him. This way, a fan-favorite Marvel star would play the important role.
