Forget Street-Level, Give Me Andrew Garfield & Tobey Maguire In Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 For 2 Very Important Reasons

Spider-Man 4 is one of my most anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, and it might be better if the film goes for a multiverse story instead of the popular choice of a street-level adventure. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies make up my second favorite MCU trilogy, with Chris Evans’ Captain America franchise in first place. Holland has made the role his, showing how the actor brings the perfect balance of Peter Parker and Spider-Man to live-action. Still, all Spider-Man movies have been great in some regards, as I don’t believe any Spider-Man film has been all bad.

Due to his popularity in the role and the financial success of his Spider-Man movies, Holland will be back for more. Spider-Man 4 story details have been revealed, with a Sony producer saying that Peter Parker will focus on only being Spider-Man in the film, abandoning his Peter side after Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s events. That could lead to a few different stories for the film, both street-level and multiversal. For a long time, rumors have suggested Daredevil and Kingpin could be involved in the movie. However, I hope we get a multiverse story in Spider-Man 4 with the Spider-Men.

The Multiverse Spider-Men’s Time To Return Is Running Low

Marvel Studios’ Current Saga Is Racing to The Finish Line

While I would love to see Spider-Man team up with Daredevil to fight Kingpin, I’m convinced we have plenty of time to have that happen in the MCU. However, a return from the previous cinematic Spider-Men does not have nearly as much time to happen. The reason for that is simple. I don’t see Marvel going back to Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire after the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. As the saga will end in 2027 with Avengers: Secret Wars, and there are not many other movies where the Spider-Men could appear, I hope we see them return in Spider-Man 4.

The multiverse might be used sparingly by Marvel after the Multiverse Saga, but there is no reason to believe that the plot device will be used at all or that major events like the Spider-Men coming back could be in the cards. As such, I hope we see the heroes in Spider-Man 4 to guarantee they will get the full movie alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker that I have wanted to see since they showed electrifying chemistry in Spider-Man: No Way Home. With Sony’s Spider-Man Universe ᴅᴇᴀᴅ, the MCU might be the only franchise where Garfield and Maguire could return.

Spider-Man 4 Could Set Up The Spider-Men For Their Biggest MCU Role

Andrew Garfield & Tobey Maguire Could Appear In Another MCU Movie

I think three movies as Spider-Man in the MCU would be perfect for Maguire and Garfield. This would give the actors a multiverse trilogy of sorts after they saw their respective Spider-Man franchises end years ago. Marvel could also check many of the boxes of fan requests and exciting crossovers that could happen as the Multiverse Saga comes to a close. While Spider-Man 4 is realistically the last Spider-Man movie I feel Garfield and Maguire could show up for, the duo would make sense for Avengers: Secret Wars, which should feature a cast of MCU and multiverse all-stars.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 has an interesting placement in the MCU’s release schedule. The movie is the only set to be released between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. With the next Spidey flick bridging the gap between the upcoming Avengers movies, it is likely going to set up the finale of the Multiverse Saga. Holland has even said that Spider-Man 4‘s script is taking time to work out how to fit the movie into the MCU timeline. Spider-Man 4 could bring the Spider-Men back and set up their roles in a team of multiverse heroes in Avengers: Secret Wars.

How Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Could Still Get A Street-Level Adventure In 2026

Spider-Man 4 Is Not Marvel’s Only 2026 Movie

I want Spider-Man to explore the multiverse and have Holland’s Peter Parker travel to Garfield and Maguire’s Spider-Man universes. This would allow Marvel to release one last love letter to those popular franchises while also pulling the beloved actors back into the fray ahead of Avengers: Secret Wars. However, a street-level Spider-Man story does sound enticing, and I think we could have the best of both worlds. Though perhaps unexpected, I think Avengers: Doomsday could present a fairly street-level story for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, and it has to do with where he fits in the MCU.

Spider-Man has plenty of experience with the Avengers and large-scale events. He is also a street-level hero, and with the huge number of characters who should appear in the next Avengers movie, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will likely be divided into smaller teams. Due to his MCU experience, Holland’s Spider-Man could be one of the leaders of a street-level team alongside Daredevil and Hawkeye, with characters like the Punisher, Kate Bishop, and Ms. Marvel joining them. Spider-Man 4 reports have suggested Daredevil and Punisher are in it, so the film could feature connective tissue with that possible Avengers: Doomsday story.
