3 Iranian F-14s AMBUSH a U.S. Destroyer in Hormuz – What Happens Next.lh

In a desperate and reckless ambush attempt, three Iranian F-14 Tomcat fighter jets launched a surprise low-level attack on a U.S. Navy destroyer patrolling the Strait of Hormuz early this morning. The aging Iranian jets screamed in from different directions, firing anti-ship missiles in what appeared to be a coordinated suicide mission to break the American blockade.
However, the U.S. destroyer was ready.
The ship’s advanced Aegis Combat System detected the incoming threat within seconds. As the Iranian missiles streaked toward the vessel, the destroyer unleashed a storm of defensive firepower. SM-2 missiles roared off the launchers, while the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System opened up with its 20mm Gatling gun, shredding the incoming threats. All three Iranian missiles were destroyed in mid-air in spectacular explosions.

What happened next was even more devastating.
Two F-35 Lightning II stealth fighters, already providing overhead cover, immediately engaged the Iranian jets. In a matter of seconds, both American jets locked on and fired AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles. Two Iranian F-14s were blown out of the sky in bright fireballs, their wreckage tumbling into the sea. The third F-14 attempted to flee at low alтιтude but was chased down and destroyed by the destroyer’s own 5-inch naval gunfire.
All three Iranian aircraft were completely destroyed. The U.S. destroyer sustained zero damage and continued its mission without interruption.

A senior U.S. Navy commander stated:
“They tried to ambush us with 40-year-old jets. We answered with 21st-century technology. The result was predictable. Any attempt to challenge American naval power in the Strait of Hormuz will end the same way — in total failure.”
The failed ambush highlights the growing desperation of the Iranian regime as it continues to lose ground on every front. With its air force largely obsolete and its best pilots already lost in previous engagements, this latest failure further exposes the collapse of Iran’s conventional military capabilities.
This is a rapidly developing story. Three Iranian F-14s ambushed a U.S. destroyer — and none made it home. American dominance in the Strait of Hormuz remains absolute and unchallenged.
