The Israeli Air Force on Thursday released footage showing one of its F-35 fighter jets shooting down an Iranian military aircraft over Tehran during the ongoing Operation Epic Fury, marking a rare air-to-air combat engagement involving a piloted aircraft.
The 17-second video, posted on the Israeli Air Force’s official X account, shows the F-35 Lightning II, known in Israeli service as the ‘Adir’, intercepting and destroying a Yak130 operated by the Iranian Air Force.
“We executed, the target was hit, we will continue the attack: First footage of the ‘Mighty’ aircraft (F-35I) shooting down an Iranian fighter jet (YAK-130) over the skies of Tehran,” the Air Force said.

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) said this was the “first shootdown in history of a manned fighter aircraft by an F-35 ‘Adir’ fighter jet”.
The military added that they continue to attack “dozens of infrastructures of the Iranian terrorist regime, paving the way for the creation of air superiority in the skies of Tehran.”
