DC’s Next Batman Movie Officially Confirms Its Robin & He Fixes A 13-Year Mistake

DC’s upcoming Batman movie is confirmed to feature a version of Robin, and we now know which one it is going to be. Batman has had many Robins in DC Comics, with four male versions of the character being the standouts. Those are: Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and Damian Wayne. Most live-action Batman movies have not included Robin.

That is a shame, as the character is a staple of the DC Universe in the comics, with the different versions of Robin helping Bruce Wayne develop both as a hero and a person. Thankfully, Robin has played a bigger role in animated Batman movies and series. That will be repeated in 2026 for the start of an exciting franchise.

The Writer Of Batman’s Next Movie Confirmed Its Robin

While DC fans will have to wait longer for Batman’s upcoming live-action movies, with The Batman 2 arriving in 2027 and Batman’s The Brave and the Bold movie still having no release date confirmed for the DCU, 2026 will see the release of a thrilling animated Batman movie. Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall adapts the iconic comic book event that tested Batman physically and mentally.

The Batman: Knightfall movie will feature Bane as its main villain, with the character freeing Batman’s Rogues Gallery from Arkham Asylum. In order to put all the criminals back behind bars, Batman has Robin’s help in the comics. The Robin that should appear in the story is Tim Drake. However, given how Tim is known to be given the short end of the stick, fans are wary.

That has led to a fan asking Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall writer Jeremy Adams on Instagram if Tim Drake would be replaced by Damian Wayne in the animated movie. That will not be the case, with Adams confirming that “It’s old school Tim.” I find that exciting, as Tim Drake will get to shine in the 4-part movie adaptation of Knightfall.

As Tim Drake is often replaced by other Robins or parts of his suit are given to the other bearers of the mantle in adaptations, having Tim be key to four Batman movies is exciting. It also fixes the mistake made in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. The film partly adapted the Knightfall arc, but Tim Drake was not included.

Instead, Joseph Gordon-Levitt played John Blake, later revealed to be named “Robin,” like the superhero moniker. While the character was popular, the notion of having a direct adaptation of Knightfall with Tim Drake firmly as his Robin persona is more exciting than the live-action movie’s take on the source material. Tim Drake deserves to shine, and he will now get four Batman movies to do so.
