Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere Lands Middling RT Score A Week Before Release

Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is dividing critics. 2025’s Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is a Bruce Springsteen biopic depicting the Boss (Jeremy Allen White) recording his stripped-down 1982 album Nebraska. The movie, which was directed by Scott Cooper, also stars Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young, Stephen Graham, Gaby Hoffmann, Marc Maron, David Krumholtz, Grace Gummer, and Jeremy Strong.

Rotten Tomatoes has been steadily aggregating reviews for Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere since it had its world premiere at Telluride on August 29. Now, a week before it debuts in theaters, it has settled at a middling score of 68%, which has been tabulated from 41 different critics’ reviews.

While the score could fluctuate as more reviews are added, at the time of writing, it is 8% above the threshold past which a movie can be considered “Fresh.”

As far as the movie’s individual scores go, it has earned a few 4 out of 5s, one 9 out of 10, and one 4 out of 4 (from Awards Radar‘s Joey Magidson). However, the majority of critics’ scores for Deliver Me from Nowhere are more middling, ranging from 2 out of 5 to 7 out of 10.

However, the majority of critics agree on a few things. While mileage varies, many have said that the music biopic movie is a surface-level exploration of the life of the iconic rocker. However, the majority have praised Jeremy Allen White’s performance in the тιтle role and Odessa Young’s portrayal of Springsteen’s love interest, Faye Romano.

In spite of its middling score, Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere has earned director Scott Cooper his best Rotten Tomatoes score since 2017. In recent years, the director’s outings, namely 2021’s Antlers (59%) and 2022’s The Pale Blue Eye (62%), have landed much closer to the line between Fresh and Rotten.

The Jeremy Allen White movie has also earned the Shameless and The Bear star his seventh-best Rotten Tomatoes score ever for a feature-length project. While it cannot compare to recent efforts such as The Iron Claw (89%) and Fremont (98%), it continues a streak of positive reviews for his attempts to break out on the big screen.

Additionally, it remains to be seen if audiences have the same reaction to Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere that critics have. There is precedent for a modern star vehicle music biopic earning a much higher audience score, as Timothée Chalamet’s 2024 Bob Dylan movie A Complete Unknown earned 82% from critics and 95% from audiences.
