Sinners Cast To Receive Special Tribute at 2025 Gotham Awards

The cast of the 2025 horror movie Sinners will be honored at the upcoming Gotham Awards show with a special tribute.

The horror, directed by Ryan Coogler, will receive an Ensemble Tribute at the 35th annual Gotham Film Awards, as reported by ᴅᴇᴀᴅline on December 1. The Gotham will honor the full ensemble cast, including Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, and Jack O’Connell. Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein will be receiving the Gotham Vanguard Tribute, also.

Sinners, set in 1932, follows two twin brothers trying to escape their past and return to their hometown in Mississippi. However, a greater evil is at large, forcing the community to defend their lives and their town. The movie is also a celebration of culture, music, and history, all while being surrounded by an outside evil threatening to destroy it all.

The Gotham Film & Media Insтιтute’s Executive Director, Jeffrey Sharp, announced the news to ᴅᴇᴀᴅline and stated:

“Led by Michael B. Jordan’s magnificent dual roles, the remarkable ensemble cast of Sinners gives bracing, inspired performances that create one of the great cinematic experiences of the year. Each talented member of this group brings a rich intensity and authenticity throughout the film’s unique twists and turns.”

Sinners earned worldwide acclaim and became the highest-grossing original movie of the 2020s and the top-earning original film of the last 15 years, with the best opening weekend for an original movie of any genre. It became the first horror film to receive an “A” by CinemaScore, and it has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Past recipients of the Gotham Ensemble Tribute were given for films like Moonlight, The Favourite, and The Trial of the Chicago 7, as well as the hit TV series The Handmaid’s Tale. The award was created in 2005 and was created to recognize talented casts who captivated their audiences with chemistry and performance.

Michael B. Jordan has been praised for his performance as the twins Smoke and Stack. He is known for his roles in the Creed franchise, Black Panther, and Fantastic Four. He is set to star in a few new movies, including Creed IV and I Am Legend 2, which are both currently in pre-production.

The Gotham Film Awards haven’t yet announced their nominees for their compeтιтive categories, but will do so on October 28, with many already suspecting Sinners will be receiving a few nominations and wins during the show.
