Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are set to star in a movie тιтled The Drama, and the release date has officially been announced.
A24’s upcoming romantic comedy The Drama has stated the release date for the movie is slated for April 3. Kristoffer Borgli is directing and writing the film, and this is his second movie to be released by A24. Borgli also directed the dark comedy Dream Scenario starring Nicolas Cage in 2023. Cage received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance.
The Drama’s plot has been largely kept under wraps by A24, but it’s known to follow a couple as their love and upcoming nuptials face challenging hurdles. The movie will also star Alana Haim, Mamoudou Athie, and Hailey Gates.
Zendaya and Pattinson are set to star in another movie next year, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, alongside a star-studded ensemble including Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Lupita Nyong’o. Pattinson is also joining Dune: Part Three in a new role as Scytale, and Zendaya is reprising her role as Chani.
Producing the rom-com will be Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen under their company Square Peg. This isn’t the first time Square Peg has worked alongside A24 and has previously collaborated on Hereditary, Midsommar, and Death of a Unicorn.
The Drama costars, Zendaya and Pattinson, have been tied to the project since August 2024 and have kept details under wraps, but have shared certain behind-the-scenes details. Pattinson allegedly drove himself “crazy” while reading the script. In an interview with French magazine Premiere, Pattinson stated:
“I was desperately looking for its meaning, writing pages and pages of textual analysis. I ended up calling Zendaya the night before shooting the scene. I shared my doubts with her, I spoke for two hours, and after a while, very calmly, she made me understand that the line just said what it meant to say, that there was no hidden meaning.”
Zendaya has become a worldwide phenomenon, starring in many major roles. Next year is a big year for the actress as she’s set to return as MJ in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and her role as Rue will return for HBO’s Euphoria’s third season after a three-year hiatus. The actress is also known for her roles in The Greatest Showman and Challengers.
Pattinson is also gaining worldwide acclaim following his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise. He has starred in several major releases since then, including The Batman, Mickey 17, Good Time, and Tenet. The Batman: Part II is currently in pre-production and is expected to be released in 2027, with Matt Reeves returning as director.
