Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios’ Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, addressed whether Daredevil: Born Again season 2 and Spider-Man: Brand New Day will connect in any way. Both MCU projects are set in New York and will be released in 2026. The Daredevil series comes first, arriving on Disney+ in March, while Tom Holland swings into theaters on July 31.
According to Winderbaum, fans can expect Daredevil: Born Again season 2’s story to impact the Spider-Man movie in some way. The MCU producer said that the Charlie Cox-led series “very much exists in the same world [of the Spider-Man movie] and it is important.” However, Daredevil might not appear in the film, as Winderbaum highlighted that they tell different stories.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Theory – Wilson Fisk’s Daredevil Defeat Sparks Gang War
After Winderbaum’s new comments, I believe Daredevil: Born Again season 2’s impact on Spider-Man: Brand New Day might come from its villain. At the end of season 1, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin won, with Wilson Fisk becoming mayor of New York City and outlawing vigilantes. If Fisk were to be defeated in season 2, Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s story would make a lot of sense.
What we know about the upcoming MCU movie is that it will be a street-level film that features characters like the Punisher, Scorpion, and Tombstone. If Kingpin ends up being defeated by Daredevil, Jessica Jones, the Punisher, and others in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, there would be a power vacuum. Criminals could then rise to take New York for themselves.
Such a major battle for control of the city would be perfect for the huge stage provided by an MCU movie. Spider-Man: Brand New Day depicting a gang war with factions vying for control of New York, while the Punisher hunts down criminals, and Spider-Man is in the middle of it all, would be the perfect connection to Daredevil: Born Again without Matt appearing.
