Keira Knightley’s 27% RT Netflix Thriller Becomes An Instant Global Streaming Hit

Keira Knightley’s new Netflix thriller The Woman in Cabin 10 has become an instant global streaming hit despite its low Rotten Tomatoes score.

Today, The Woman in Cabin 10 currently ranks at number 1 on the Top 10 Movies in the World on Netflix. Despite receiving mixed-to-negative reviews, the new book adaptation is now dominating streaming charts across multiple regions, even beating out films like the ever-popular KPop Demon Hunters, which has dominated Netflix since its release in June earlier this year.

Based on Ruth Ware’s 2016 bestselling novel, The Woman in Cabin 10 follows journalist Laura “Lo” Blacklock (Knightley) who believes she witnesses a woman thrown overboard on a luxury cruise, despite all pᴀssengers being accounted for. Directed by Simon Stone, the film also stars Guy Pearce, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and David Morrissey. It was released globally on Netflix on October 10, 2025.

Unfortunately, critics and audiences alike have not been kind to the thriller movie, giving The Woman in Cabin 10 a disappointing 27% Tomatometer and 34% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite its strong cast and stylish visuals, many felt the film lacked tension, with some critics comparing it to earlier Netflix thrillers that struggled to find balance between style and substance.

However, even with its low Rotten Tomatoes scores, the movie is defying expectations with a fantastic streaming performance in the days since its release. The Woman in Cabin 10 is trending globally, with Netflix users inevitably drawn to the film’s book origins, familiar mystery formula in a strange environment, director Simon Stone’s thriller movie repertoire, and Keira Knightley’s leading performance.

The Woman in Cabin 10 marks Keira Knightley’s return to the thriller genre, following a series of period dramas, comedies, and indie films. Most recently, Knightley starred in Matt Ruskin’s historical crime drama, Boston Strangler, in 2023, portraying a real-life journalist tracking a serial killer. It was released on Hulu in March 2023, and similarly received mixed reviews from critics.

The global success of The Woman in Cabin 10 could signal a new phase in Knightley’s career, where mainstream thrillers and streaming platforms become key to her next chapter. Knightley also has a lead role in Netflix’s British spy-thriller series, Black Doves. It was renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere, reflecting strong confidence in its appeal.

Black Doves has a positive 92% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes, and the series even earned Keira Knightley a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Helen Webb. With Black Doves’ positive position among Netflix’s audience, Knightley has proved herself a fantastic solid addition to the streaming platform, so it’s not surprising that The Woman in Cabin 10 is now trending.
