Rebecca Ferguson’s “Idiot” Bully She Confronted Was Not Tom Cruise, Hugh Jackman, Or Ryan Reynolds

Rebecca Ferguson has clarified which of her past co-stars were not the subject of her viral story about being bullied on set by an “absolute idiot.” In an interview last year on the podcast Reign with Josh Smith, Ferguson detailed working with a co-star who reduced her to tears with disparaging remarks about her career.

In an interview with The Times, Ferguson spoke about an unsavory incident on set and made it clear who she wasn’t referring to. The actress confirmed she wasn’t talking about her The Greatest Showman co-star, Hugh Jackman, nor Tom Cruise, nor her co-star from the sci-fi movie Life, Ryan Reynolds.

In Ferguson’s original claim, she detailed exactly why she felt this co-star was an “absolute idiot,” stating that, “This person would literally look at me and say, ‘You call yourself an actor?’” While she still declined to identify the actor responsible, Ferguson said she wasn’t the only person who had issues with them on set. However, she also admitted her own reactions at the time weren’t perfect, saying:

“I will shove someone under a bus in front of an entire crew to make a point. I don’t applaud my own behavior in that. When you start standing up for yourself, it’s really tricky. They’ll fire you and give the job to someone else.”

Ferguson’s career has skyrocketed after achieving recognition following her appearance in Mission: Impossible and for her major roles in The Greatest Showman and Dune. The Swedish actress is currently filming the Peaky Blinders film The Immortal Man alongside Cillian Murphy and has said she’s delighted to be working alongside him.

While Ferguson hasn’t made it clear who she was referring to after her scathing comments regarding a co-star, many have begun speculating online about who she could be talking about. Her comments even led to Dwayne Johnson setting the record straight by clarifying he wasn’t the guilty party and applauded her for speaking out.

Among the potential co-stars, a few A-listers have been making the rounds, including Emily Blunt, whom she starred alongside in the 2016 thriller The Girl on the Train. However, Blunt’s representatives were quick to confirm the actresses are, in fact, friends.

Ferguson refuses to specify which of her former co-stars was the bully, but has made sure to exonerate her innocent co-stars.
