Spider-Man: Brand New Day seemingly reveals that it will be following up on a storyline set up for Scorpion when the villain returns in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man movie is turning out to be one of the biggest events the franchise has had in recent years. That is all due to Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s star-studded cast.
Besides Holland, Stranger Things‘ Sadie Sink will reportedly be the female lead of the 2026 MCU movie, though her role is under wraps. Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo are said to return as the Punisher and the Hulk, respectively, with a range of villains confirmed or rumored for the film. That includes Michael Mando’s Scorpion, who returns to fulfill a tease.
Michael Mando’s Scorpion Seems To Finally Be Fulfilling An 8-Year-Old MCU Tease
Michael Mando made his MCU debut as Mac Gargan in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. After being stopped by the hero, the villain was last seen in prison, where he asked Michael Keaton’s Vulture about Spider-Man’s secret idenтιтy. However, Vulture never revealed to Gargan that Peter Parker was Spider-Man, with Scorpion not being seen in the MCU since the film.
Thankfully, the character is confirmed to be back in the MCU in 2026, with new Spider-Man: Brand New Day set pH๏τos revealing Scorpion’s return. While the images do not show Mac Gargan in his Scorpion suit from the comics, which is what many are dying to see, they tease that the MCU movie will pay off a storyline from 2017.
Scorpion wanted to know who Spider-Man was so that his friends outside could get to him. In the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day set pH๏τos, it appears that Michael Mando’s Scorpion could be breaking out of prison. In one of the images, he is on a military-like chopper, while in the other, Scorpion is handcuffed by only one hand.
How Michael Mando’s Scorpion Could Escape From Prison In Spider-Man: Brand New Day
The first look at Scorpion in Spider-Man: Brand New Day connects to older set pH๏τos. One of them teased that the tank Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has been seen chasing during filming, rams through a wall (via @SpiderMan_Newz/X). Based on that and the new Scorpion set pH๏τos, it looks like the tank was being used to break Scorpion, and perhaps others, out of prison.
One other villain has been reported for the Spider-Man movie, with Marvin Jones III playing Tombstone in the MCU. In the comics, the character is a New York City crime boss. As such, he could be breaking out Scorpion so that the villain can serve as his enforcer. With the Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a street-level story makes sense for the film.
