OG Jean Grey Star’s Avengers: Doomsday Comments Tease A Shocking MCU Truth

Avengers: Doomsday will bring back many of Fox’s X-Men, but after new comments from the franchise’s original Jean Grey star, I feel like Marvel Cinematic Universe fans should start believing that a disappointing reality might come to pᴀss. When the cast for the next Avengers movie was revealed, the part of it that excited me the most was the X-Men’s role.

While I could have seen a couple of characters coming back, I imagined it would be Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds’ ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool. However, Marvel threw a curveball, announcing that several actors from Fox’s original X-Men franchise would be returning in the anticipated MCU movie. The Marvels set it up with Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, but I’m convinced there is a limit to the returns.

Famke Janssen Has Addressed Avengers: Doomsday’s X-Men Returns & Jean Grey Chances

Recently, Fox X-Men actress Famke Janssen talked to ScreenRant‘s Grant Hermanns about her new Netflix series, Amsterdam Empire. During the conversation, the Jean Grey actress addressed Avengers: Doomsday‘s X-Men returns. According to Janssen, she has no idea what is going on with Avengers: Doomsday‘s story, as she is not from the “comic book world.” The actress claimed she will find out when the movie releases.

While Janssen holds the X-Men franchise in a special place, commenting on how the movies were great to be a part of and helped her career, she is not a fan of “repeating anything.” The Jean Grey actress believes that constant variety is what works best for her, indicating that she will not reprise her X-Men role in Avengers: Doomsday.

The OG Jean Grey Star’s Comments Might Point To A Harsh Avengers: Doomsday Realization

Based on Janssen’s comments, it seems fairly clear that the actress is not in Avengers: Doomsday. She is not the first star connected to Fox’s X-Men franchise to give such an answer. Previously, Storm actress Halle Berry debunked rumors that she would be in Avengers: Doomsday. The actress said a chair with her name was “not gonna be there” in a new Avengers cast announcement.

Both Fox’s original Jean Grey and Storm actresses seem adamant that they will not appear in the MCU’s next Avengers movie. While we know that actors have lied in the past to keep their MCU appearances a secret until the projects they were in were released — Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home being a notable case — a harsh realization might be necessary.

Given the way both actresses spoke about it, I believe they are truly not in Avengers: Doomsday. With six stars from Fox’s X-Men movies confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, the MCU might already have enough mutants for the film, as the franchise still has to give time to the MCU’s many heroes introduced in the Multiverse Saga and returning veterans.

While a couple of names could come up as surprises, it seems like the announced names might be it for the X-Men in the Avengers movie. After all, while Ryan Reynolds’ ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool is reportedly in Avengers: Doomsday, no such updates have been given about Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. If Logan is not in it, then that likely means the X-Men lineup is closed for Avengers: Doomsday.
