Sam Claflin is dying to divulge more about the “incredible script” of Taylor Sheridan’s new action movie, F.A.S.T. Still, the actor is dutifully holding back, knowing there are things he can’t yet reveal about the film poised to be released on April 23, 2027.
Sheridan is one of the most successful writer-producers in Hollywood, behind hit TV shows Yellowstone, 1923, Tulsa King, Landman, and more. He is also an Oscar-nominated screenwriter. F.A.S.T. marks Sheridan’s first feature film script since 2021’s Those Who Wish Me ᴅᴇᴀᴅ. For his latest movie, Sheridan’s long-time collaborator Ben Richardson directs, with Brandon Sklenar, Claflin, LaKeith Stanfield, Trevante Rhodes, and Jason Clarke also on board to star.
In an interview with ScreenRant‘s Grant Hermanns for All The Devils Are Here, Claflin revealed he is currently in production on F.A.S.T. in New York, praising the “great crew, a great cast, incredible script, and a really, really juicy character to get my teeth stuck into.” The actor says the film ticks “many of my dream-job boxes,” but he admits there is a frustrating aspect to it as well:
“I don’t know how much it’s I’m able to talk about… It’s honestly frustrating. [Chuckles] Honestly, it’s the worst part of the job, I think, is when you’re doing something you really want to talk about and you’re not allowed to. But yeah… it’s great fun.”
What we do know about F.A.S.T. is that it follows a former special forces commando enlisted by the DEA to combat drug dealers in his town, who just so happen to be under the protection of the CIA. We don’t know, however, what role Claflin is playing in the film.
Outside of Sklenar, who starred as Spencer Dutton in 1923, Claflin, Stainfield, Rhodes, and Clarke are working with Sheridan for the first time on F.A.S.T. It’s an experience that Claflin appears to have been enjoying immensely thus far. Acknowledging that he is a big fan of Sheridan’s work, Claflin said that he “can only hope and pray this is the first of many with Taylor.”
While Claflin is currently in production on F.A.S.T., he can currently be seen in All The Devils Are Here, a mystery where he stars opposite Eddie Marsan, Burn Gorman, Suki Waterhouse, Tienne Simon, and Rory Kinnear. All The Devils Are Here is currently available to buy or rent via video-on-demand platforms.
Sheridan, meanwhile, has many projects on the horizon, most of which are focused on the TV side. He has a handful of Yellowstone sequel series in Y: Marshals following Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes); The Dutton Ranch, which brings back Cole Hauser’s Rip and Kelly Reilly’s Beth; The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer. There’s also another Yellowstone prequel series, 1944, in the works, as well as upcoming seasons of Mayor of Kingstown and Landman, and the recently confirmed Lioness season 3.
