Its 2024 movie adaptation of the same name achieved unfathomable success and has become the highest-grossing Broadway musical adaptation of all time.
The movie earned over $756 million worldwide at the box office and currently has a rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Wicked: For Good is easily one of the main films people are looking forward to watching this year. This follow-up, which covers Elphaba and Glinda’s perspectives during the events of The Wizard of Oz, has an impressive budget of $165 million and is expected to more than make up for it.
What To Expect From Wicked: For Good
After the events of the last movie, Elphaba defies The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) and vows to expose the truth. Glinda decides to stay and becomes a political figurehead, enjoying the perks of popularity. As mentioned, Wicked: For Good will feature the story of The Wizard of Oz simultaneously, but focusing more on Elphaba and Glinda.
Erivo has previously stated that the protagonist of The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy, is not a primary character and will only be shown from behind or in shadow. Wicked: For Good promises to be an epic conclusion, bringing Glinda and Elphaba’s shared journey to its end.
