Today Is A Devastating Day For The Batman Fans

Today marks a disappointing day for fans waiting for The Batman – Part II. Robert Pattinson’s Batman is set to come back for at least two more movies, as director Matt Reeves has revealed that his plan for a Dark Knight trilogy remains in place. While rumors about Pattinson joining the DCU’s slate of projects remain, that is looking unlikely.

So far, there have not been any concrete updates about the direction The Batman – Part II‘s story will take. The main topic of conversation surrounding the upcoming DC movie is its bumpy production timeline. Sadly, The Batman sequel has suffered multiple delays. For that reason, today is quite the devastating day for The Batman franchise fans.

The Batman – Part II Was Supposed To Be Released Today

After the success of The Batman, DC knew that a sequel had the potential to be an even bigger hit. With the movie greenlit, everyone expected it to arrive sooner rather than later. However, that was not at all what would happen. In addition to the Writers Guild of America strike, Matt Reeves took longer to get The Batman – Part II script ready than expected.

As such, DC had no other move besides delaying the film. That is where today comes in, as The Batman – Part II was originally set to be released on October 3, 2025. This would have marked the first time that Batman and Superman solo movies would be released in the same year. The DC movie was then slotted for October 2, 2026.

However, with the script still not ready, DC decided to further delay the film, with The Batman – Part II now set to arrive in theaters on October 1, 2027. Interestingly, that means the Batman and Superman movies will now get the chance to finally be released in the same year. Gunn has announced the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, for July 9, 2027.

On June 27, Matt Reeves finally revealed on Instagram that the script for The Batman – Part II was finished. He did so with a pH๏τo of the script that sent the internet into a frenzy. After the announcement, all that was left was for The Batman sequel to get a filming start date. Thankfully, we now have confirmation of that.

According to Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO, David Zaslav, The Batman – Part II will begin filming in spring 2026. As such, casting updates and story details should start to come out towards the end of the year, with the rest of 2025 making up for The Batman – Part II skipping its original release date.
