Warner Bros. Officially Hits Major Box Office Milestone For The First Time In 6 Years

Warner Bros. has become the first studio to pᴀss a major box office milestone this year. The studio has released 11 theatrical movies this year before the Leonardo DiCaprio-starred thriller comedy arrived in theaters on September 26. This includes seven original тιтles. The last time it made more than $4 billion in a way was 2019, when the studio released 20 тιтles.

According to ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Warner Bros. has become the first studio to cross the $4 billion milestone at the box office worldwide in 2025. The studio’s total earnings are made up of $1.795 billion in domestic earnings and $2.2 billion in international earnings.

Meanwhile, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another pulled in $3.1 million in Thursday previews, and the latest DiCaprio movie is expected to add another $45 million into the mix from the opening weekend.

Earlier this month, the studio made history by becoming the first to have seven consecutive films making more than $40 million at the opening box office. Warner Bros. has shown consistency in delivering commercially successful тιтles this year, and the total gross further indicates that the studio is ᴀssuming box office dominance.

Both the studio’s established IP and new original work have paid off. Superman grossed more than $600 million worldwide and launched James Gunn’s DC Universe, while Ryan Coogler’s original feature film Sinners and Joseph Kosinski and Brad Pitt’s F1 have made waves at the box office. Based on a popular video game, Minecraft also established itself as an exciting IP in the media space.

The Zach Cregger-directed Weapons made $264 million worldwide against a $38 million production budget, having outperformed several larger-budget films. It’s also considered one of this year’s best horror movies. Despite having received mixed reviews from critics and fans, The Conjuring: Last Rites became the franchise’s highest-grossing installment.

Out of the 11 тιтles, nine opened at No.1. The studio’s releases dominated the weekend box office for 15 weeks, both domestically and worldwide. One Battle After Another marks the 12th and the last тιтle from Warner Bros. With the movie expected to debut at around $45 million, it’ll add more to the studio’s already impressive achievement this year.

On the other hand, it, as the last тιтle on Warner Bros.’s 2025 slate, is the studio’s last chance to up their annual profit. One Battle After Another would need to earn $1 billion to push the studio to the $5 billion milestone, which is uncertain at this time.
