“It Was Better Than The Book”: Sydney Sweeney’s New Psychological Thriller Gets Glowing Review From Author

The Housemaid‘s author has officially offered her review of the upcoming thriller. The Housemaid book series was written by Freida McFadden, with the first novel published in 2022. It is not being developed into a movie of the same name that is set for release on December 19 of this year.

The plot focuses on a woman who goes to work as a housemaid for a wealthy couple, when things do not go quite according to plan. Directed by Paul Feig, the movie version will star Sydney Sweeney, Brandon Sklenar, Amanda Seyfried, and Michele Morrone. It will be Sweeney who will step in to play the housemaid protagonist character.

As per her official Instagram page, McFadden has provided her review of The Housemaid. The author revealed that she saw a sneak preview of the film, and stated that she “absolutely LOVED it.”

What This Means For The Housemaid

The Housemaid Stars 2

This is really positive press for The Housemaid as it prepares to head into theaters in a couple of months. The first book made it onto the New York Times bestseller list. As such, there will be a fairly significant audience base who have read the book going into the film.

Readers are generally fairly pᴀssionate audiences, especially in the case of something that is a full series. Faithfulness and honor to its source material really can make or break a movie like this. From the sounds of McFadden’s initial review, The Housemaid has succeeded in making a strong adaptation.

This could be good news for the film at the box office. December can be a compeтιтive time, especially during the direct lead up to Christmas. McFadden’s positive review of The Housemaid could give the film an edge over the compeтιтion as it gains clout in advance.

Sweeney needs a hit this year. She has had three releases (including one on streaming and two in theaters), and none of them have been commercial or critical darlings. This has created a negative streak for the actor, who is still rising in Hollywood fame.

The Housemaid could change this for Sweeney. Feig is also a known enтιтy in the industry, and is capable of making a box office hit. Between that set of names and McFadden’s positive review, this thriller may just come out in the top box office rankings this December.
